I had one of the most disappointing dining experiences of my life at Father & Sons. When we first arrived, the hostess told us, “I can seat you now, and then I’ll come by shortly to take your order.” We agreed, sat down, and patiently waited. However, more than 15 minutes passed without anyone approaching our table, no check-in, no water, not even a simple acknowledgment.
What made the situation even worse was that during this time, I watched two large groups arrive after us. To my surprise, the server immediately went to greet them, took their orders, and prioritized their tables, while completely ignoring ours. I couldn’t help but feel that we were being judged simply because we looked like students, and therefore assumed to be “low tippers.” If that’s the case, it is not only discriminatory but shameful behavior for someone working in customer service in Canada.
When I tried to raise the issue politely, I signaled another staff member. He ignored me twice, even though I was respectful. I eventually had to get up and approach him directly. Instead of addressing the problem, he dismissed me with “I don’t know, I was busy somewhere else,” showing zero accountability or teamwork.
This entire experience reflected a complete lack of professionalism, responsibility, and fairness. It wasn’t just poor service, it felt discriminatory, and that is completely unacceptable. Restaurants should welcome all customers equally, regardless of appearance or assumptions. What I experienced was the exact opposite, and it left me deeply...
Read moreI have been to father and sons several times and the food has always been great and really good prices!
But the last time I was there on father's day It ended up being 130$ dollars as I got a 100 dollar parking ticket in the lot across the street.
The pub has a sign in the main entrance in big letter saying free parking across the street weekdays after 4pm and all day on weekends. I have parked in that lot on weekends before and never got tickets so I was shocked and took the ticket to the owner of the pub to let him know and he then goes to the main entrance closes the door and shows me this qr code thats hidden behind the door that your supposed to scan to get the free parking.
They need to make it more clear that you have to scan a qr code thats hidden behind the main entrance door to actually get the free parking and not get ticketed as 4 out of the 7 vehicles in that lot had tickets and im sure they were all dining at father and sons.
I did try to have the ticket reviewed and explained the situation to them but the great city of ottawa denied my request with the reason : No ticket issuance error
I'm just really upset that a 30 dollar breakfast turned into 130 which should have never happened. You need a better spot for that qr code and better signage saying there's a qr code you have to scan for...
Read moreFather and Sons's is an appropriate name, if we assume the father is the type to leave the house for milk and never return. That's how I feel after wasting my time at this "tavern." The waitstaff portrayed a perfect impression of an absent father, choosing to gossip amongst themselves instead of paying any attention to who was coming in. I and several other want-to-be patrons spent a concerning amount of time not being seated. As soon as I had my chair however, I was immediately forgotten, and no staff existed to even offer me a menu. I counted about 4 staff and approximately 5 groups and couples across the restaurant, so, unless they were hoarding 40 more in the corners of fort Knox, I don't see how I could be so easily looked over. We poor sons at the bar, no father to provide for us our liquid bread, were stranded waiting for any notice. All that said it seemed like the staff couldn't get enough of pouring pitcher after pitcher for the shadow cabal of beer drinkers apparently gulping down gallon after gallon of overpriced lager. The amount of used pitchers piling up would have you believe a brigade of brigands was running the place dry. More for them I guess. Go there at your own peril. You'll be reminded why you haven't spoken to your father since the fated...
