We came here a group of 5, dinner out for my birthday. We ordered 3 appys
Spinach dip is average. Usually an easy one. Didn’t wow but wasn’t horrible
Jalapeño poppers: they were not jalapeños. They were red peppers with a spicy aoli and cheese inside
Garlic shrimp: it was weird. Shrimp served in an escargo dish with melted butter smothered in garlic bread cheese. Yep cheese on shrimp. It is as weird as it sounds
Mains were interesting. I don’t eat pasta so I asked for a different side with chicken parm and they advised they couldn’t do that. They don’t have other sides. I pointed out that they do in fact have other sides available since the rest of my party had ordered theirs. Alas I did not press the issue and ordered fish and chips. The 1 piece fish was large and the fries portion not plentiful The fish tasted frozen and processed sadly. I mean I know they are not catching it today, but it really tasted of freezer and the batter was heavy.
The two burger orders were good. Huge burgers that had a good taste Sweet potato fries and poutine were decent also.
The final dish was Mac and cheese ( my child was not offered a kids menu though) Salad was good but the Mac and cheese not so much. My 11 year old sent it back - that’s a big deal she eats everything!! Bacon ratio way too high, chunks of tomato, sauce tasted canned and watered down and the noodles very overcooked
She replaced it with wings and enjoyed those.
The atmosphere is very dated, feels old and worn out. Cafeteria/industrial feel.
Overall I wouldn’t bother making the trip again. Food lackluster, unable to accommodate or substitute menu, atmosphere meh. Do Shoeless joes or montanas instead. This isn’t worth the...
Read moreWe go here all the time because it's the closest restaurant to us that doesn't look like like a delapidated outhouse. Yeah, we've got some interesting places here in South Ottawa. We don't come here for great food, we come for the convenience.
This place is your typical chain type sports bar. There are smaller than average TVs mounted high on the walls throughout. It is really one big "open" rectangular floor plan with half-wall partitions separating the "bar area" from the "dining area", which really direct traffic patterns in the restaurant.
Food is hit or miss, even for the same item from visit to visit. Last night my burger was overcooked and really tough, though on previous visits it has been really good.
Kids meals are cheaply priced (and are nothing all that special) and include both a drink and a pretty legit desert.
Service is usually really good. Last night we were seated in the bar area and the gentleman working behind the bar was also working the entire bar area. He was both courteous and efficient, even though the bar area was...
Read moreMy dad was visiting and he and I both liked this place for breakfast so we decided to try dinner too. Went here late on a Thursday night, only place in Findlay Creek open other than fast food. First thing you notice is a pretty large menu. They were out of pizza dough though... Ended up settling on Beer battered fish and chips but it wasn't haddock - I think it was Tilapia, tasted like bottom feeder, not even the batter could save it. Came with "Garlic Bread", two pieces of hard, flavourless toast.
Breakfast is normally great so I was going to chalk it up to one bad experience and leave it but this is where the 1 star comes in - My 76 year old dad got a creamy Alfredo pasta. Avoid it at all costs. Food poisoning, spent the next two days in bed. If a place can't keep itself clean in the kitchen and hire staff that care about what they serve, it shouldn't be open.
You are better off going to the fast food...
