Lexus Resto-Bar — Restaurant in Ottawa

Would put 0 stars if I could just like the $0 tip I left - what a horrible customer service experience and from what I just read, it isn't the first of those. Went for lunch today and all 3 of us grabbed in the Light Section of the menu the chicken breast salad. It's one we take all the time we go there. This plate is a greek salad with potatoes and chicken breast - usually greek salad has feta cheese on it. I took a piece of feta cheese and had to spit out, it was goat cheese and I am allergic (it could've also been feta made with goat milk but either way it tasted like goat cheese, had it's texture and was definitely NOT the same as usual). The waitress was already not coming back for the longest time with a bigger knife that comes with all plates but one fell on floor - we saw her taking orders of new clients, bringing new plates etc. Ok she might of forgot, but now the cheese situation came up and we were trying to get her attention. Finally had to get up to go see her for that knife she forgot - when asked, she'd non-chalant "oh ya sure" is what she says. She comes to the table to hand it and we bring to her attention the cheese. She starts arguing with us it's the same as usual and we say there's no way, we are 3 people whom have eaten this before and know for a fact this is NOT the same. She seems bothered and runs off to come back with a note pad with a scrabble of letters written by pen to which she tells me "it's the same cheese it's this brand, we always use this" with a very argumentative attitude. I ask her to speak to the manager to which she continues to argue with me about the cheese and says "sure you can speak to him but it's the same" and this gentleman comes back and AGAIN tells me/us that it's the same cheese and I tell him there's no way, so what it's my mouth that changed? He is very argumentative and dismissive even when I tell him about allergies he just shrugs his shoulders and walks away.

What a ridiculous customer service approach and how appalling - this restaurant might of lasted because it's been around for so long now but the service is not worth it. All 3 of us there are business owners and one of which does own a restaurant and NEVER would we have served client this way.

Never will we go there or bring clients there ever again -...

We were in Ottawa for two nights and lucked upon Lexus because it was one of the two restaurants within walking distance from our hotel. Casual atmosphere with a large pub-ish feel. The menu is huge- something for everyone. That normally scares me as typically that means many things available but none of them done well. Not here. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, as were the rice, roast potatoes and veggies. My son loved the spaghetti. We liked it so much we went back the next night. I had the chicken and shrimp, and again everything was excellent. Had we been there another night, I'd have gone back to try one of the many steaks on the menu.

The staff and the owner were great. When we showed up the second night about 45 minutes from closing, there was nobody else there (COVID delta wave), but they welcomed us in anyway and fed us well and there was no impression they would have preferred to just close up rather than stay open to serve one adult and one child.

Great menu, great food, great staff. Highly recommended! We tried to convince them to move shop 4 hours west to Brooklin so we could enjoy the food some more, but couldn't...

My wife and I were wanting to have a family bunch here and she called ahead to spoke to the owner regarding the size of our group (10 people). He told her unfortunately they didn't take reservations for brunch but insisted that their restaurant would be happy to have that size and to just come down. When we arrive however the wait staff said they couldn't handle that size of a group even with the free tables they had. We then asked to speak to the owner and he told us that we would not be able to sit together, with 4 sitting at one end of the restaurant and the other six at the front of the building. My wife then asked about what he had said on the phone and he said he would never say those things and outright called my wife a liar. We immediately left. I will NEVER go back there nor will I recommend it. I found this to be rude and not one person offered to give any options. I realize it was a big group and it may have required so moving of tables but I would have thought that wanted the business.
