Taproom260 — Restaurant in Ottawa

My husband and I visited your establishment yesterday in the evening. The hostess brought us to the left patio with food menus. The place is super nice, however, the service was not. We waited 20 mins before the server came to us. Even the couple sitting beside us was saying they have not been served either who came before us. When the server finally came to us, I asked for the drinks menu as we were not given that at the beginning. She said she will bring that to us. Another 7 mins goes by, she comes to us to take our order at which point we are already not happy so I ask her again “can we get the drinks menu?” to which she replies “ya I am really busy” with an attitude then walked away to grab it. I understand being busy and even letting the fact go that we had to wait over 25 mins to get a drinks menu but what is NOT acceptable is the way she spoke to us. It’s like she was annoyed with us for having to ask her again for the menu and complaining to us that she is busy. First of all, not my problem. Secondly, the correct way to respond to that was to say “Sorry I forgot, I’ll get that to you right away”. We came to your establishment to be served in a respectful, and timely manner where we spent our money. Please train your staff on how to behave with customers and not to be so arrogant. Ive never written a google review before but I had such a bad experience at Taproom that I am writting one now. I’ve gone a few times to Taproom and have never been impressed with the service but yesterday the service was exceptionally unacceptable. We were served by Isabel who was unprofessional and not empathetic. Our orders were not punched in correctly (which we were not mad about) but Isabel did make it feel as though it was our fault and that we did not communicate our orders well to her. She came to check on us only once while we were eating our meal and asked how everything was tasting. My friend mentioned that the food wasn’t to his liking and she replied with “well it might be better next time”. She did not try and offer him anything else to eat or at least apologize for being dissatisfied with his meal. At the end of the meal, once we paid the bill, she asked if we all enjoyed the food and my friend expressed again how he did not enjoy his meal. She replied with “well I had to ask” and then left. It did not feel sincere and felt as though she was only asking because she had to.

All of us left still very hungry and had to go to another restaurant after leaving this one. Very disappointed, it was a waste of money and...

I went probably for my 5th visit today as it had been at least a year since the last time and this place went all the way down hill.

The restaurant was as filthy, if not more filthy than the 99 Rideau McDonalds IYKYK 🤢The menus were sticky, and the doors, washrooms and server station were just crusted with dirt and grease, also the chairs were falling apart.

The meals were edible but nothing we would call good. The flatbread was sparsely dressed, the salad was underdressed and the chicken looked like it was cooked on a dirty grill, the fish tacos were decent enough but the tortillas themselves weren't very good.

The server was a breath of fresh air in all of this and I wish I had kept my receipt so I could give him a shout out for his good service.

I am disappointed because I have had such nice meals here previously.
