The Dough Bros — Restaurant in Ottawa

We are visiting from out of town and the kids insisted on staying in the hotel room for supper after a pretty full day of activities. A quick Google search revealed a few local pizza joints and we decided to go with Dough Boys as it seemed to have pretty good reviews. Looking to feed a family of six (my wife who eats gluten-free, myself and our four children), I place the call and am immediately greeted with genuine warmth by someone who clearly enjoys what he does. Not being familiar with the menu, I basically keep to simple items… a gluten-free Mediterranean pizza, an extra large pepperoni & cheese and a large house salad for all of us to share. The gentleman who took my order was thoughtful enough to ask whether we had plates and utensils given that we were going to be eating the meal in a hotel room. He offered to send us everything we need and even offered their dessert balls for the kids free of charge! The meal arrived at the hotel within 20 minutes and felt as though it was fresh out of the oven. When we opened up the order in the room, everything looked and smelled amazing. The pizzas were huge and perfectly baked, the house salad was also huge with very fresh vegetables. The kids could barely sit still while we served them and not one of them complained about the meal. I don't give out 1 star reviews lightly, but this experience is undeniably a 1 star. Ordered pizza online at 6:48 pm, called to check on order at 7:58 pm. The customer service person explained they were dealing with a staffing issue and the pizza would be delivered in 15 MORE minutes. Pizza did not arrive until 8:35 almost 2 HOURS after we ordered. This could be considered a one-off bummer, except for how the pizza was delivered. The driver handed me the pizzas not our of a hot bag, but just out of his hand and they were stone cold. When we opened the boxes the cheese had congealed and the pizzas had obviously been sitting for at least 30 minutes before delivery. Dough bros offered us a $15 dollar voucher for next time. We had the absolute pleasure of having the dough bros cater out late night snack for our wedding in June. Their service was beyond my expectations. The owner and his wife are lovely people. Very prompt with answering any questions, friendly, and make one hell of a pizza! We even ran into issues at our wedding where we ran out of food and we frantically called the dough bros asking if we can get part of our late night snack early for the table that didn’t get much food, and they were on it and delivered pizzas very promptly and even threw in a pizza on the house, and not to mention came the second time for the late night snack delivery.
