Liu's Cuisine — Restaurant in Ottawa

The reviews we read seemed mixed, between awful and excellent. Our experience was not so good...

We almost turned around when we first saw the dining area - cheap old tables, spartan with a few garage sale pictures, mixed with some pictures of food, labelled and stapled to cardboard. The door is wide open to the outside (no vestibule), so every time the door opened, the entire room became freezing. This might explain why the guy who served our meals was wearing an ankle length winter parka.

There is no music, so all you hear is the two kids (family business) at one table playing video games. There is junk piled up beside the table which suggests the whole family may actually live in that corner.

The guy with the parka had no idea who ordered what, and wasn't inclined to ask (he would just bring something out, put it in front of one of us, and walk away). Water was brought to the table, in half-full red plastic cups. No ice for water or drinks.

Sometimes we can look past the dining experience when the food is amazing, but unfortunately this was not the case... We tried the pork rice vermicelli, chicken guy ding, and shrimp spring rolls. All quite bland. The shrimp spring roll was literally a single, small, plain, whole shrimp, stuffed inside a thick spring roll shell. I actually laughed when it fell out. The bits of chicken in the guy ding were oily and twisted with gristle.

Ordered from here through their doordash delivery service. After an hour I contacted door dash to find out they couldn't contact the driver, they assigned another one. After waiting even longer and no delivery I called the restaurant and said I'd come pick it up and asked if they'd make a new order as that one had been sitting for over an hour. They agreed to make a new order, so I went and picked it up, they hadn't made a new order, and told me they kept the old one warm in the kitchen.

I had to pay the restaurant for the order because the driver hadn't come in yet to pay them and then I had to go fight to get a refund back which I have to wait 5-7 business days on.

The food was luke warm and soggy from sitting over an hour. Especially the egg roll which is usually my favorite part and what usually keeps me coming back to a place.

You get 1star because your prices are good. You get 1 star because you seem like nice people despite agreeing to make a new order and...

Ordered lunch for myself and co workers. We were told 30 minutes for delivery. An hour and 20 minutes later the delivery guy shows up with cold food. We stated this was unacceptable that we now have lost out on our lunch break and now have cold food. We asked for a discount for the inconvenience. The delivery guy left with our food and said nothing. So we called to find out what is going on. Who ever answered the phone kept arguing with me they attempted to delivery three times that they could not find our location. BULLSHIT! your delivery guy came into our store then left with our food.... Worst service!! Unwilling to send them back even though a child could understand the directions we gave... Our office will not be ordering from here again!...
