after the negative experience below, we were able to contact support through email and they were sincerely apologetic and worked quickly to ensure that we were happy with the resolution. We were given a full refund for our order. I took away a star because my Mom and Step Dad never got to enjoy their order this time which was disappointing for them.
My mom and step dad are vegetarian and they were really looking forward to ordering mad radish from their website tonight. She is in her 60s so does not have the uber eats app. Apparently delivery is subcontracted to uber eats and she got a completely different order (I believe it was some kind of meat rice bowl from wolf down) and the bag came with only one meal with two drinks with a different name on the bag. She called mad radish and they said there was nothing they could do so to call uber eats as the order was handed to the driver. After an hour on hold with uber they also said they there was nothing they could do because she doesn’t have an uber eats account. My mom then called the restaurant who continued to say that they could not help and it was the responsibility of uber. We are all very disappointed in this. My Mom and step dad ended up eating peanut butter and toast as they had no other meal plans tonight. Although they said that they do usually love mad radish food as a treat they said they will not order again after this experience. Do not order take out from the website- go to the uber app itself as then at least hopefully uber can be dealt...
Read moreI arrived around 2pm, after the regular lunch rush. It was still pretty busy, with a line up of two or three people waiting to order. The interior of the restaurant is very pretty and modern. A worker greeted me and explained how their system works. She also mentioned ordering through their app. I ordered the Waldorf salad, with cashew parmesan instead of the blue cheese. They built it in front of me, allowing me to see everything that went into the salad. Overall, it was a good, well put together customer experience. The salad was as expected; fresh, leafy, and with a good helping of chicken. The biggest issue I had was with the price. It ended up being $15+tax for the Waldorf salad, and non-meat options were closer to $11-12. This is on the highest end for lunch takeout. A comparable salad can be had at Freshii, which is also a quick salad-focused healthy eatery, for $8-$12. Green Rebel and Juice Monkey also serve healthy meals within that range. The salads at the glitzy restaurant Riviera, up the street on Sparks, are $16-18, and it is considered one of Canada's best restaurants. They are priced as if they were a sit-down restaurant with waiters and table service, not a healthy takeout joint. Even as a restaurant, I would be hard pressed to choose Mad Radish over the other places nearby, as there is nothing standout amazing about the salads. Yes they are good and fresh. They have some unusual alt-healthy options. They have a fancy app. Is that worth the...
Read moreI really wish I could give this place a 5 Star, but unfortunately I wasn’t entirely in love with the food! I had the ginger chicken salad and handpie combo. The handpie is very tough and has a pungent (possibly?) cardamom scent that’s really off putting for me. It seems like it’s been overbaked in the outside but the inside is still raw which is unfortunate. The salad is very bland, especially the chicken, and the only saving grace was the orange. I actually had to bring it back home and put my own dressing! I really like the concept of mad radish and the place is very clean and spacious. Unfortunately the food was pretty bad. Definitely coming back for the coconut soft serve and perhaps the soup combo, but pass on most of the salad (asked my friends and they all thought the salads were bland and so so) and handpie.
Update 3/25/2019 I tried their chicken baguette sandwich after a long hiatus and I liked it. For $5, it was fresh and delicious. I still feel skeptical about the salad, but not everything is terrible.
Update 10/25/2020 I have changed it from (I think) 2 stars to 5 stars because the food we had recently was very delicious. The crust of the pizza was kind of sweet which was very surprising, but it was such a unique take on a gourmet pizza. Also had Luisa’s burrito bowl and it was very delicious too except I think they forgot the creamy cilantro dressing or it’s just very watery....
