I visited the Delta for a conference happening at the Rogers Centre. There were only single queen rooms; booking through the Bonvoy app was a breeze. I was able to easily find the underground parking. Despite what others have posted, it is an average underground parking lot and not crazy tight. I mean, it's "underground parking lot" tight, but average.||When I arrived at the lobby, I went to the Marriott Bonvoy Elite check-in. I am only Gold, but the dedicated Elite check-in counter is one of the few perks that I reliably get to enjoy. An front desk attendant was standing nearby and he slowly made his way over... instead of helping, however, he said "Sorry, I can't help you. I'm watching the popcorn". He shrugged and gestured towards a popcorn machine in the lobby. He pointed back to the non-Bonvoy line and said they'd be able to help me. I went back and got in line. So much for that. Someone did come out of the back office a few minutes later and quickly checked me in and I made my way to my room.||Shortly after getting into my room, I noticed that the hotel had club access that could be purchased. Club rooms weren't available when I booked, but I saw that they included free breakfast, snacks, and evening appetizers. I inquired with the front desk about club access and was offered access for $30/night. I agreed and was told that it had been added to my room. I was asked to stop by the front desk to have my keycard updated... but 10 minutes later, upon arriving, I was told "Oh, sorry. It is over capacity". I expressed my confusion, and the clerk repeated his same apology. Oops?||I hate to be "that guy", but it was not a great introduction to my stay here. People should come before popcorn, and promises should be kept. I should be focusing on the convenience of the hotel's location, the safety of the surroundings, the good night's sleep I had, and the cleanliness of my room. Instead, I've spent this review telling you about some stupid lapses in hospitality in the hope that they can be a learning experience.||One novel feature the room had was some plugs near the desk to plug in an HDMI device, an audio mini plug, and some other inputs. I tried to plug my Macbook in, but it would not display on the TV. I also tried plugging a fire stick directly into the TV, but could not change the inputs at all. The TVs are locked down in a hotel mode, so you can't use your own devices. You can, however, sign into Netflix directly on the TV itself.||The room was equipped with nice blackout drapes, a comfortable bed, a small lounge chair, a large desk, coffee maker, and a mini fridge. It was the perfect size for a solo traveller and it was a comfortable place to end my busy day.||As a traveller, it really is the little things that make the biggest impression. I stay at Marriott properties specifically, and the little "thank you for being Elite", the express check-in, and feeling just a little bit valued as a frequent traveller does edge my business toward Marriott. When these are missing, it negates that sense of...

Read moreOur family arrived at the Delta Ottawa City Centre on July 27 with a two-room booking for a six-night stay. I wish I could say this is the best place to stay in the nation’s capital, but unfortunately, that is not the case.|After a five-hour drive, we reached the street in front of the hotel. We had to park on the street because, unlike most hotels that have a driveway for guests to pull in and unload their belongings, this hotel has a front lane designated only for valet parking and taxis.|Unsure of where to go next, we drove around the hotel at least twice before finding ourselves back in front of the hotel on Lyon Street, where we started. We sent our adult daughter inside the hotel to ask for assistance. She eventually returned with two staff members. We were thrilled when one of them offered to enter our vehicle and guide us to the parking garage. She then helped us unload the car and brought our bags up to our rooms. This was the highlight of our stay.|The drawbacks of this place clearly outweigh the benefits. |As the sun set, we noticed the room becoming cooler, so we called the front desk. They sent a technician to adjust the heating controls, but despite his efforts, the air continued to blow cool. It was only a few days later that we discovered there was nothing the hotel could do because it’s an older building.|We had brought two plastic tumblers with us on the trip so we would have our own drinking glasses in the room. These tumblers, which we had obtained from an Ontario resort, were unique and irreplaceable. One day, upon returning to our room, we discovered that the glasses were missing. We informed the front desk about the situation, and they apologized, assuring us they would look into the matter. However, we never received any follow-up. It seems that housekeeping had accidentally thrown them away. It was not until we were leaving the hotel at the end of our holiday that we received any resolution to the situation. The manager on duty attempted to address our concerns by offering us a complimentary breakfast that day and waiving the parking charges for the week. It would have been much better if we had been provided such a remedy earlier in the week.|A similar situation occurred in our daughter’s room with her tumbler. In that case, the housekeeper provided her with gloves and suggested she could go through the garbage to find it. We notified the front desk, and they were surprised by the housekeeper’s recommendation. Ultimately, the glass was located, cleaned, and returned to us.|Another thing that convinced us never to return to this hotel. We realize that hotels live on conferences. However, it was evident that this place values conference delegates over families. During our stay, conference delegates congregated and blocked the hotel lobby, making it almost impossible to move around. They also monopolized the elevators. If a hotel cannot respect all its guests, it is unworthy of...
