Pho bo ga express 佛波嘎越南粉 — Restaurant in Ottawa

Be careful!!! I usually don’t leave negative comments but this place deserves one. After having dinner with friends, I went to the counter to pay and was shocked that they charged me around $10 more (after taxes) than what I ordered. When I got home, I looked up their menu and verified I wasn’t wrong, they indeed overcharged me.

I asked my friend how much he paid for his and they did it to him as well. I and my friends won’t be coming back here because of this. Even the receipt doesn’t indicate the breakdown of the cost, just the total price. Very shady!

I still remember the person at the counter that time. It was a dude with a very long straight black hair who looks like a woman. Shame on you for overcharging people and not being honest!!! The food was also not good for the price. Take your money elsewhere.

Always be careful when paying. Don’t just tap your card, evaluate it first, don’t be afraid to ask. Otherwise, you will fall victim to their dishonesty like what happened to us.

The food is good and the staff is generally nice. We have been going here a lot for years now, and never a problem. But tonight we saw a bug in the pho bowl. Not a problem usually, mistakes happen, just when we called over the waiter, she insisted it wasnt a bug, even though there were clearly legs and everything. She first said that it was a bean, which made no sense since there weren't beans in the pho, then she said it was a chili. It was black, how. She even went as far as to eat it to try and prove her point, and spit it out right after, saying she just didn't like spicy stuff. After all that, we didn't want to eat anymore. We had only eaten a few bites at most but she didn't even offer to give us a discount, and we paid full price for food with bugs in it, which...

We came at midnight from a late theatre show and this place hit the spot!!!!! The bun Bo hue was fresh and so very flavourful. I loved the spices, the generous contents, and the hints of lemongrass. I wish we ordered two. The beef broth was also delicious but I definitely had order envy and kept taking from my partner's bowl. 🤣 Highly recommend! We aren't local but will definitely return should we come back to Ottawa. What a great find.
