Pizza Junction — Restaurant in Ottawa

Yesterday was our first time ordering from Pizza Junction, encouraged by their impressive 4.5 Google review rating. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations.

Ordering Experience:

I attempted to place an order online for delivery, only to receive a notification afterward that it would be delivered the next day between 5-8 PM. Upon calling the location, I was informed they don’t deliver on Mondays—a detail that should have been made abundantly clear on their website. Additionally, the four-hour delivery window, even for next-day service, is unreasonable. Their online ordering system desperately needs an overhaul to avoid such confusion.

Ultimately, I opted to place the order for pickup and drove to the location to collect it myself.

The Food:

We ordered a medium pizza with wings. One positive aspect was their option to ship wings and sauce separately, which allows customers to crisp the wings in their oven and toss them with sauce to their preference. However, we requested the wings to be cooked a little well-done, and they arrived undercooked. An extra 8 minutes in the air fryer couldn’t salvage the drumettes, which were still not fully cooked in parts. The wing tips were marginally better but still underwhelming.

The pizza was even more disappointing. We paid extra for a pan crust but received a regular crust instead. The toppings were sparse, and the deluxe pizza we ordered lacked flavor. The pepperoni was bland, and the minimal amount of bacon was almost undetectable. To make matters worse, the pizza was nearly devoid of sauce, leaving it dry and uninspiring. The overall experience reminded us of a mediocre grocery store pizza, not what we’d expect from a place with such high reviews.

Online Tipping Policy:

Another issue with the online system was the mandatory minimum 15% tip on a pickup order. While I’m not opposed to tipping generously for exceptional service or dine-in experiences (I typically tip 25% or more), forcing a tip on a basic online pickup order feels unnecessary and off-putting.

While the concept of separating the wings and sauce was appreciated, the execution of both the food and the online system left much to be desired. Pizza Junction needs to make significant improvements in their ordering platform, food quality, and service clarity before we’d consider giving them...

Ordered the tandoori pizza and medium wings from Pizza Junction. Delivery was prompt. The presentation of the pizza after opening the box was fantastic. - beautifully topped/decorated, well cut, piping hot and tasty beyond words (hands down the best tandoori pizza I’ve tasted in Ottawa (in my mind, beating out two other well-known competitors) - the last time I tasted a tandoori pizza this good was during my time in California).

The hot wings were also very delicious. I mean finger licking good! They were plump, meaty and juicy with a generous lathered coating of wings sauce. We couldn’t stop licking our fingers and eating them. This is how hot wings should be prepared!

Larger delivery chains like Dominos, Pizza Pizza, etc., should take a page from Pizza Junctions’s book on delivering the same taste and value for their hot wings. Stop cutting corners, charging an arm and a leg and giving your customers itty-bitty partially dried hot wings!
