We were craving for north-Indian food, google suggested this place (probably as their name contains the word Indian), and we saw a rating of 4+. Overall ambiance and cleanliness were average; however, the food is pricer - compared to the quality of the food and DEFINITELY NOT AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD. The only person that has the enthusiasm for learning is the lady with blond hair; she is energetic, receptive to feedback, and always trying to make you comfortable (the only star of my review is for her).
One of us ordered 'Chicken Tikka Masala' - in which typically the chicken cubes were barbecued (as the same was written in the menu) - however it looked like a 'Paneer Jalfrezi' when it arrived. We were reassured that it is the dish we ordered. Really? The chicken was cube boneless breast (NOT the tikka), and gravy was full of onion, bell paper, and tomato. Generally, at this point, every restaurant tries to re-prepare the dish, but this restaurant is adamant about selling the food. Another person ordered 'Chicken Jalfrezi' - which matches the description when the dish arrived; but please don't put celery in the Jalfrezi - it doesn't taste good at all. For me - raita came as a surprise - it is as watery as it can be (more like a lassi, rather than raita).
If your chef can't prepare the dish, my humble request to management is to remove it from your menu. And request the chef - start watching the youtube channels and try to learn - there are thousands of such recipes online, or...
Read moreJuly1st 2025 edit. Food has gone back up in quality. Ordered some for overnight work today and it was fantastic, its 4am and im eating a second helping. Yum yum
Edit: April 10th 2024. Been eating here since 2020, but personally ordered in 2021 and left a review. The last 3 times we have ordered from here, the meat has been non existent and the they have sent tikka masala instead of butter twice. I let it go but today just irked me, the garlic naan has little to no garlic on it. We can't even smell it or taste it in the naan. The fries were soggy and covered in black bits, your oil fryer needs to be changed. Also, you guys stapled the container closed, oil leaked out all over the place. I left notes about the fries and they were ignored, same as last time. I'm not sure what happened, but the last three orders I made were to introduce your food to new people and each time iv looked stupid as we pull this food out. Just really disappointed, I live the food here but its nit been great lately :(
We ordered today, April 12th 2021, via uber and it was delicious. Rogen Josh was tasty, lamb was succulent. The Paneer Lababdar was a little strong on the capsicum, but tasty. The Naan and rice was excellent. And my husband really enjoyed the Mint chutney. The fries, ordered just because and they did not disappoint. Very crispy and still hot. Over all, good price and portions. Can't wait till we can all dine in safely again so that we can come in for the...
Read moreI am just gonna say I travel to India for a couple of months every year. Coming back to Canada, it's hard to find good Indian food especially in Ottawa. Toronto is another story, where there are more options.
I would say there is actually no 5 star Indian food in all of Canada even eating in Toronto especially for non veg. The problem is that in India they literally get the meat fresh that day and always cook on fire(they have no regulation for indoor fire).
That being said I would say RamaKrishna is one of the best restaurants in Canada for Indian food. The owner is very kind and respectful. But even more important than that, the food is great.
Only negative I would say is, that sometimes it feels like they change their ingredients. For example when they first opened the restaurant their samosa's were amazing but recently it feels like there is less potato and the breading is not as good as before either.
Other than that, I would say this is the best restaurant for Indian food in Ottawa. It's funny because previously this had a different owner and different name but it was also the best Indian food(by a Bangladeshi) in Ottawa.
The pricing is decent, the location is great right in downtown and the atmosphere inside is nice and comfortable. Their buffet is also quite good but I mainly do...
