As locals from the Ottawa region, we've known about Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for as long as I can remember. It’s one of those places you assume is a safe bet for a chocolat treat. This weekend, my partner and I stopped in—she’s a big fan of fudge—so we picked up a small piece (which, honestly, was already overpriced). But from the very first bite, she was completely put off by the dry, stale texture. I tried it myself and was shocked at how bad it was. Definitely not fresh. She was too polite to say anything, so I went back to speak with the staff. Instead of being helpful, I was met with a condescending attitude from two employees who made me feel like I was being unreasonable for questioning the quality. Their solution? Microwave the fudge. lol ??!? Apparently, it was “only” two days old. Unfortunately, warming it up didn’t fix anything—it was still inedible. It’s incredibly disappointing. 99% of my reviews are positive because I genuinely love supporting local businesses, but this place felt like a classic tourist trap: overpriced, low-quality and poor customer service. Won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for quality treats...

Bought a box of 6 chocolates. Each chocolate was supposed to be 3.5$ each as labeled. The person asked if I wanted a box, which I said yes.
They charged me: 45$ FOR 6 SMALL CHOCOLATES-- !!! When confronting the person about it, they did not budge and simply said "it's because of the taxes". I pulled up my calculator with them, and calculated the price, but they said that the 45$ was correct because of the box and wouldn't budge on their price.
Very disappointed. The price of the box wasn't indicated. Total lack of transparency and fairness. Chocolate is good, but the price of the box is not worth the scam! On their websites you can get 11 similar chocolate for 35$...
They also had wasps eating the chocolate inside some of the display shelves - disgusting... I wouldn't doubt other reviews saying that they had worms after seeing this.
DO NOT BUY...
Read moreMy husband and I went in on Sunday afternoon, the 2 employees were engaged in their Snapchat gossip that we had time to walk all the way through the store and make our way back towards the exit and we were not acknowledged. My husband spoke up to get help and the young lady asked if we knew what we wanted? While that is a valid question to ask a customer, we hadn’t been greeted or asked if we were looking for something specific. Also just want to say that the other employee who was cutting fudge, asked the other person what to do with the leftovers and was instructed to put leftovers in garbage. It was sad to see that much product go to waste, it looked to be 2-3lbs of fudge. So many ideas popped in our heads as to what to do with the leftovers. My husband runs a fudge shop so we couldn’t help compare the way we were treated versus how we treat...
