Roberto’s Corner — Restaurant in Ottawa

The best sub I've ever eaten! I stumbled upon this place because I bought gas and had to use the washroom, and they share a place with a corner store/ gas station. First off, their selection is better than any other place. Far far far better than Subway. The meats selection is crazy! Really high quality stuff. They even have sun dried tomatoes, and two types of pickled egg plant! Second, they menu selection is huge! Bit the thing that really got my vote of approvalis that I just said what meats I wanted, and they said "No problem". So i got a custom-made sandwich, and they just chargez me like any other 4 meat sandwich. I guy tu talking to the person serving me, and it tiens out is the owner's son. Extra points for a family business! Oh: they bake their own bread! This is truly a gem of a place and is by far the best sandwich place in Ottawa. I will definitely be going back again. And soon, as in working on a job nearby. Also, it's part of a convenience store that sells alcohol, so you can pick up dinner and drinks and the usual corner store stuff (milk, eggs, etc....). Once again, I was passing by Roberto's Corner and wonderful memories forced my car to park in the lot and go in for another wonderful sandwich experience. This hidden gem 💎 inside the Quickie at the back is known by many but not by all. Hopefully, this will change after you read my review of the place... I ordered my sandwiches, off menu, to my own specifications, and Roberto was there to guide his son on the preparation of a culinary delight. Fresh Italian bread, straight from the oven, fresh ingredients (no yellow lettuce Subway...). I asked for my two sandwiches as I wanted, with the toppings I chose myself to make a couple of delicious sandwiches that we could not finish because they were so big. Generous toppings, no counting the pieces of meat like other places, just grabbing handfuls and trying to make them stay on the bread. Needless to say, if you haven't already been there, Go. You will not be disappointed. Roberto is always present with his smile and great service. They also have Italian gelato.... haven't tried it yet but I sure will... Like I said, this is a hidden...

Shocked! Walked in, wasn’t greeted, a few minutes later, a younger girl in her early 20s starts yelling at everybody in the back, then everyone yelling back-and-forth for several minutes…VERY LOUDLY! Customers were not impressed and neither was anyone else in the quickie location! Food is not made with love, just plopped onto the bread thrown in the oven and then hand it to you in a brown paper bag! These young kids really need some training… four or five of them just yelling back-and-forth at each other, not professional at all! Found nothing special with their sandwiches, you can make this at home yourself for much much cheaper! Very disappointed in this place, I had heard good things about it, but didn’t have a great experience at all! Today I am ashamed to be Italian..these kids are embarrassing.. and weren’t very sanitary either…I will not be going back, and I will not be recommending this place to my friends or family! I hope someone talks to these kids, ESPECIALLY the girl who is the loudest of them all!
