Romeo's Donair & Pizza — Restaurant in Ottawa

I've been going to Romeo's since it opened in the 80s. The donair is one of the best in the city and the owners are great. But they haven't renovated the place in more than 30 years and it looks run-down: peeling wallpaper, faded pictures, and worn-out furniture. The interior isn't welcoming. They might as well gut the seating area and keep the place as a takeout, or maybe have one or two simple tables, because I never see people dining in it. Again, I love the donairs and think the owners are great but I feel sad every time I drop in for takeout. I’ve been coming to this location to eat Donairs for nearly all my life and have come here with my family for a very very long time. The owners here are the most incredible people who our family considers them part of our family since we’ve known them for quite some time. Their donair is out of this world so delicious with their sweet sauce. Soon as I take my first bite is like heaven for my stomach. I will always be a loyal customer of theirs for life. Not so much "old school" as just plain old. The place is run-down and downright gross frankly. Filthy throughout, the benches are threadbare, the carpet old, warn and stained and there's a weird not quite musty unpleasant smell (kinda like Grandma's house). Now to the food... blech! Bland and tasteless (we had the donair sandwiches) although admittedly a generous portion but the taste was just plain old bad. Even my 8-yr old said "this tastes like crap" and she wasn't wrong.
