I've been going to Romeo's since it opened in the 80s. The donair is one of the best in the city and the owners are great. But they haven't renovated the place in more than 30 years and it looks run-down: peeling wallpaper, faded pictures, and worn-out furniture. The interior isn't welcoming. They might as well gut the seating area and keep the place as a takeout, or maybe have one or two simple tables, because I never see people dining in it. Filthy throughout, the benches are threadbare, the carpet old, warn and stained and there's a weird not quite musty unpleasant smell (kinda like Grandma's house). Now to the food... blech! Bland and tasteless (we had the donair sandwiches) although admittedly a generous portion but the taste was just plain old bad. Even my 8-yr old said "this tastes like crap" and she wasn't wrong. I was hoping this place would be the little hidden gem that some have claimed it to be but it's simply...
