Silver Dragon Chinese Food Restaurant — Restaurant in Ottawa

I ordered the number 2 combo plate and a wonton soup. Everything was bland and flavorless, except maybe the chicken fried rice which had an almost burnt taste. The chicken balls were decent, but nothing better than any other place I have tried. The chicken chop suey was bland and unappealing. The eggroll was half decent, but I've had as good or better from the frozen isle of my grocer. The wonton soup was totally bland and gross - was this made with chicken stock or plain water?! The noodles in the wonton soup were hard and unpleasant, with seemingly nothing for filling.

The one redeeming thing I can say about this restaurant is that the order was ready VERY fast! Maybe that speaks to why their quality is how it is though...

Sure, they offer good prices, free drinks, and freebies over $29 - but it's obvious why they do and how they can afford to. They are offering quantity over quality, big time.

Visited the restaurant for take out, they were quite friendly and seemed like a nice family business, however the food quality and taste is where this place falls short. I ordered the dinner for 2 and was very disappointed with the food and portions. I know this isn't authentic Chinese food, however it should still taste good like classic Chinese-American cuisine. Everything was watered down and very bland, I know the place states it is MSG free, however it should still be seasoned correctly. The "chicken fried rice" is not fried, or appears not to be, it's was just regular rice doused with soy sauce and little frozen chicken/vegetables incorporated into the dish. The "chow mien" was made entirely of bean sprouts, lacking flavor and has way too much water. The beef with mixed vegetables follows the same, it's bland and has way too much water again. The portions size was around half size compared to the other restaurants, other places are actually cheaper for much more. Anyhow, not the best but hope they can improve...

This was my go to place! However, after tonight's meals, I'm afraid I will no longer call Silver Dragon. Very disappointed. This is the 2nd time that my dinners have showed up with hardly no meat, thick pieces of vegetables. 50$ for essentially two vegetable platters with sauce. Very small plumb sauce that wasn't enough for my egg rolls. This isn't how you treat your regular clients. This is the 2nd time I feel as though I've been taken advantage of. Not good business practice. You've now lost my business!!

Contacted owner today, who said she would add extra meat next time! I'm my opinion there should have been an offer for compensation, free meal.
