EDIT: we reached out as per Sushi Shop's request. They said they'd follow up and gift us a gift card to make up for our loss, but have not heard back after multiple attempts to follow up. I will not be going back. We placed a large order via website ahead of time. I needed to cancel/adjust the order, but the store told me it's a third party company who places these orders and they cannot see my order, therefore I would have to come in to manually refund me the day of. Plus I'd have to call again to inform them of my cancelation. Because of the headache, I figured I'd give them a try as I was hosting dinner and had more people joining. When I arrived to pick it up the day of, the lady noticed that she was missing our teriyaki balls. She quickly made them. My gut told me she was missing an order of them as I placed 2 orders of the teriyaki ball. Assuming they knew what they were doing, I thanked her and went home. (Keep in mind, I placed a huge order with no receipt given so it's hard to keep track when it's a rush at dinner time) I was hosting that evening and found we were in fact missing 2 items (I noticed there was barely enough for my guests and reviewed my order placed through my confirmation email); another set of teriyaki balls and 8 sushi pieces were missing. When I called them, they told me they would honor my teriyaki balls but denied the missing sushi order. Customer service was lacking and the attention to detail was missing for this large order. Very discouraged about this experience.

It’s actually really good I was very surprised, given that the rating is only 4, and I was desperate because I was craving and this shop was the closest to me. Have ordered from them 3 times now: first time was excellent, second time a bit disappointed, but the third time was great again. Lobster burger’s not good, but the volcano “poke” bowl was great, the sunrise was great, the salmon teriyaki roll was excellent and I think their soy sauce was their secret sauce! I put poke in quotation mark because it wasn’t really a poke bowl, more like salmon rice bowl. But as long as it is good I don’t mind. Here are the pictures of things that I ordered the first time:

Not bad for a franchise type restaurant. Lots of selection. Food was good (had a poke bowl -see picture, dragon roll, kaarage chicken bowl - chicken nice and crispy) and service excellent/fast. Only thing is that the ambiance is lacking. This can easily be change with different lightning fixtures and decor. Takeout available using BonApp app. Good to have another sushi place in Barrhaven. Will definitely be back.

Not bad for a franchise type restaurant. Lots of selection. Food was good (had a poke bowl -see picture, dragon roll, kaarage chicken bowl - chicken nice and crispy) and service excellent/fast. Only thing is that the ambiance is lacking. This can easily be change with different lightning fixtures and decor. Takeout available using BonApp app. Good to have another sushi place in Barrhaven. Will definitely be back.

Used to love Sushi Shop so much but can’t recover from the rock hard pieces of avocado they tried to feed me in a $60 order. Could not give them any more chances after this last experience:

During the local power outage, we decided to make a large Sushi Shop order for our whole family. We wanted the good flavour of their food and were willing to pay their high costs. Unfortunately it was not at all worth it. Every item that I had ordered had rock solid avocado pieces in it. The first few bites had us gagging and spitting out the sushi because we were not expecting the odd texture (and flavour). We soon realized that every item had more than 50% hard avocado. Completely ruined the taste, meal, and experience.

Though this was a one time experience, I still believe their quality has decreased a lot over time. Some sushi is served warm (even when dining in, or picking up right on schedule) and flavours are increasingly lacking. Months ago it was not like this.

Will never be eating here again. Hard to even think about eating sushi after...

I was so excited for this. Me and my friend went before our game and each ordered two items (normal rolls, not big combos). There was one table that was eating, and one table waiting for an order for take out in the restaurant. It took them 45 minutes to make our food. Seriously. I place my order at 5:21, finally got my food at 6:05. Another table came in after us, also didn't get their food before waiting forty minutes. It was actually a pretty stressful experience, three tables just waiting and getting agitated. I finally went to inquire when we would get out food as we actually had to leave at that point, and instead of apologizing, the chef interupted the cashier who was trying to figure out what was happening and advised that it was because they had to complete the take out order thst things were taking so long. Basically he blamed customers ordering food. It doesn't matter how good the food is, I'm not going back to...
