Great Food, amazing craft beer, and fantastic patio. Date of Visit: Monday August 1st Finding a quality place to eat with a patio isn't always easy. We prefer outdoor dining - and we are not convinced covid is done yet. We asked our followers on Instagram to recommend great restaurants in Owen sound, and Mudtown Station came up a few times, so we had to give it a try. The restaurant is located in an revamped CPR Rail Station. The length of the station building provides them with the opportunity to have plenty of outdoor seating - spaced well apart. Located right near the water - this is also a great spot for views as you eat. The servers are very efficient and friendly. I am a bit of a goldilocks when it comes to beer - I like what I like and i hate what i hate for many different reasons. So, I asked for tastings of various beers that they have on tap. the waitress was happy to oblige. I tried 3 different beer - a Beet, Morrocan spice and a sour. All were exceptional - My husband ordered the Beet - so i decided on the morrocan spice. Such an excellent option. The food - is gorgeous, beautifully presented with quality ingredients. No corners cut. I was having GI issues so i didn't want to upset the applecart - so i selected what I viewed as a safe choice. The Club sandwich and salad. Thick cut bacon, delicious meat, gourmet bread. - it was amazing. My husband had the fish dinner -beautiful and full of flavour. Ample Parking on site and near by. Walkable from all of downtown Owen Sound. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and beer. A very popular place for locals and tourists alike - it seemed fairly busy every time we were near. although not too busy to not get a table. The food was exceptional. The beer exceeded all of my expectations. The restaurant is in a train station. The patio view of the waterfront walk was perfect. Whats not to love about this place? When you are in Owen Sound - the Mudtown Station needs to be on your list of places to eat, or enjoy a beer on a patio.

Boy where do I start? Great location! Great building! It was a little unclear as to where to enter, when we finally found the entrance, there were two tables with people sitting at them waiting for their meals, they were all staring at us, it was a little uncomfortable. There wasn't a hostess there telling is what to do or where to go, it was odd and again uncomfortable. When we got a table, I ordered the sample pack of their fresh brewed beer and my wife ordered a glass of wine. She played it safe, but I like to try something new once in a while, especially in these micro breweries. I was disappointed, didn't like any of their beer, not saying it's bad, just that I didn't like them. For food, we ordered the carrot soup, a burger, falafel and poutine with the oxtail gravy. Carrot soup was amazing, probably best carrot soup I've ever had. Same can be said about their burger, cooked and seasoned perfectly. It wasn't dry and over cooked, very moist and tender. There were five people sitting around us and four of them ordered the burger, if you go there and just order carrot soup and a burger, you won't be disappointed. The falafel was dry and too much garlic, wouldn't order again. The poutine with oxtail gravy, again not great, the potato wedges are ok on their own, but shouldn't be used in a poutine. I suppose the flavour of oxtail is an acquired taste, it was new for me, but didn't really like it, also would not order again. Overall, it was ok, if I wanted a burger, I would go here, but not really for much else.

Wyck Recommends: Mudtown Station (Owen Sound) Rating: 4/5 Mudtown Station is what happens when someone took an old rail station and thought, “This place needs beer.” And honestly? They nailed it. Funky, historic, and slightly haunted-looking (in a cool way), it’s got charm in a way most breweries only wish they did. The coffee stout? Unreal. Smooth, dark, and just bitter enough to remind you that life is short, so you should drink good beer. The hibiscus beer was a fun curveball, but the real move here? A flight of beer and their cornbread. Because somehow, a rail station-turned-brewery decided to make some of the best cornbread around. They also throw in random outdoor games, so you can challenge your friends to a match of whatever while sipping something strong. And it’s right next to the Chi-Cheemaun ferry, so you can take your last sip and pretend you’re setting off on a grand voyage instead of just heading home. Pros: ✔ Coffee stout is elite—don’t even think about skipping it ✔ Funky, historic rail station vibes—old, charming, and full of character ✔ Cornbread is unexpectedly great—because why not? ✔ Chi-Cheemaun ferry next door—grab a beer before setting sail Cons: ✖ If you hate fun, beer, or history, this isn’t your place ✖ The vibe can get too quiet sometimes—great for existential thoughts, though Final Take: Mudtown Station isn’t just a brewery—it’s a whole experience. If you’re in Owen Sound, you know the drill: grab a flight, get the cornbread, and enjoy drinking inside a piece of history.

Not Impressed Called to make a reservation, however they do not take reservations. No problem. My wife and I and my 17 year old son and his girlfriend arrived at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday 15th June. We sat down and waited about 5 minutes or so for the server to come over and take our drink order. She came back with our drinks in about 5 minutes. So far so good. We needed a couple of more minutes to make our dinner selections. When she came back we begin to proceed with our order my wife and my son's girlfriend ordered the fried chicken nuggets with garlic sauce and crispy noodles. I ordered the lake trout with almond salsa. As well I had to order a side of fries because the dish comes with no sides. My son ordered the whip Burger. That was at around 5:15 pm. We didn't see our server for about 20 minutes when she reappeared to give us a jug of water. My wife finally had to go track her down at 6:10 p.m. to find out where our meals were. So almost an hour. She said it will be a minute they are just plattng it. My wife and my son's girlfriend's fried chicken nuggets were overdone and very crunchy. The crispy noodles tasted more like Styrofoam. However the upside my son's whip Burger was good and my lake trout was good as well. The cottage fries we good. A group of three entered the restaurant approximately 20 minutes after we arrived and they had their food before we did. I am not in the custom of writing negative reviews but I was very disappointed with the lack of service and my wife and my son's girlfriend did not like there fried chicken nuggets. For the items we received it seem to be a little expensive. This is the first time that I can remember that I did not leave a tip because the service was so poor. I do understand that it is a new restaurant and maybe they need to iron out some kinks. My wife and I both said we will not...

The food and service were extremely disappointing. We waited a long time for service despite it being nearly empty inside and only a few people having drinks on the patio. When the server brought our water she set two carafes of lukewarm water and all of the glasses in the middle of the table and left. I poured and served everyone. When she returned we ordered soft drinks and waited. The server tried to slide a drink across the table instead of walking around and spilled the entire contents--mostly in my 17 year old niece's lap. We waited a long time for our food. The $16 battered fish was extremely greasy (and if you want fish and chips, the chips are another $5--but they're actually quite good). The chicken sandwich was so over cooked the batter was hard--it was like eating bricks. The ham sandwich was also so over cooked the bread was hard and it was very greasy. The chicken sandwich meal came with a small hair in the side garnishes which we didn't see until my niece had finished eating the sandwich. The ice tea we ordered was "bottomless" but after asking if we wanted refills, the server disappeared. After at least 10 minutes we finally asked another staff member and our server finally showed up with the drinks--in smaller glasses. By then some of us were finished our meal. My 10 year old niece went to use the washroom and was stuck in a stall for 15 minutes with no toilet paper. When my older niece, who'd had a drink spilled in her lap and found a hair in her food, asked if they were charging for her meal, the server said she didn't know. We waited a long time for our bills. They didn't charge my niece but we still paid over $100 for 4 orders of chips, a ham sandwich, one order of battered fish, a hamburger, 6 ice teas, a ginger ale, horrible service and greasy, over...
