Been going there for lunch since September 2020.
And an update for March 2022.
Went in for lunch yesterday. Love the renovations done to the restaurant. Looks bigger. The updated washrooms are very nice too.
I'm a regular! :)
The review then: And there were other people too enjoying their meal. Got the chicken curry, samosa and rice. And I had the Nepalese spiced tea to drink. The tables were clean and the glasses, dishes, cups and cutlery were clean. I ordered from the express menu and didn't have to wait long for a hot and delicious meal. The staff wore face masks and practiced good hygiene during the Covid-19 and the washroom was really nice and clean. Don't believe any of the negative reviews! I will definitely go there again. Highly recommend! ;)
And the review now: Went in there recently in October 2021 and the food was still as delicious as ever. This is one of my favourite restaurants and my family members too. Had the samosa, chicken curry, rice and the Israeli salad and a Nepalese spiced tea to drink. And got two samosa's to take home. And my food has never ever arrived under cooked. or over spiced. It's perfect every time!
I know good quality food and this is definitely quality food. And will eat only quality food at a restaurant. New owners and still the same delicious food. Very nice they kept the same name. And family members of the previous owner Sabritri. And very nice and clean place to eat in too.
Also don't listen to the current review from the person from Toronto. I too used to live in Toronto And was there recently. And had terrible food . In a restaurant with similar food.
Sabritri's in Owen Sound has high quality food and that's FACT. We don't have as many restaurants as in Toronto, but, the one's we have in Owen Sound are FANTASTIC. :) This restaurant definitely is 5 out of 5 stars! :D
*Same delicious food as always. Don't believe the negative reviews! Some of the best chicken curry I've ever eaten. The Samosa's are delicious too. And the desserts. Going to try everything on the menu. Not all at once...
Read moreDuring a recent trip to Tobermory, we stayed in Owen Sound and stumbled upon a gem of a restaurant near our hotel: Sabitri's, Nepalese and Indian Food. Our experience at Sabitri's was so delightful that we ended up dining there twice during our stay.
On our first visit, we ordered rice and momos, and the flavors were simply outstanding. The momos were perfectly cooked, and the spices in the dishes were just right, creating a harmonious blend that tantalized our taste buds. The quality of the food was impressive, and it was evident that the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care.
What made our dining experience even more enjoyable was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome and ensuring we had everything we needed. Their warm hospitality added a personal touch to our meal, making it memorable.
The following day, on our way back from Tobermory, we couldn't resist stopping by Sabitri's again. Our second visit confirmed our initial impressions – the food was consistently delicious, and the service remained top-notch.
If you're looking to experience authentic Nepalese cuisine and possibly explore some Indian dishes as well, Sabitri's Restaurant in Owen Sound is a must-visit. The delightful food and welcoming staff will surely make your dining experience a pleasant one. Highly...
Read moreI chose this place because it had consistently strong online reviews, and I wasn't disappointed.
The service was excellent - friendly and relaxed. The restaurant was full of happy people, so I don't think I was the only one having a good time. The decor was warm and comfortable, and there were many interesting photos and items that kept my eyes exploring the surroundings.
I had a lamb curry that was extremely flavourful, and also quite spicy (as I had requested, though they were happy to adjust the heat for personal tastes). I've eaten lamb curries in many places over the years, and this ranks among the very best I've tried. The entrée was filled out with rice, pappadum, salad and a vegetable chutney, and I polished it all off. Although this dish had an Indian theme, the menu had quite a diverse range of offerings, from different world cuisines. For dessert I chose the pecan pie, and again it was really, really marvellous.
They had a local beer on tap, Kilannan, and it too was really superb - nice to see the restaurant taking advantage of the best the community had to offer.
Certainly the most enjoyable restaurant meal/experience I've had in a long, long time. If I lived in Owen Sound, I'd be a regular. If you visit Owen Sound, I recommend you give Rocky Racoon...
