I have so many nice things to say about Gather, I'll go for the highlights here.
I'm from out of town, but my mother myself, and my little one (who was four months old at the time) first ate at Gather when it had only just opened in 2021. We were served by the owner, Kerri, who couldn't have been kinder. The food was excellent, as well. Everything is made to order, and the ingredients used are mostly local, which I appreciate.
Fast forward almost four years later, and we were in Perth again yesterday (all three of us!). There are many great dining establishments in the area, but I chose Gather based on our previous experience. Kerry was there (again!), friendly as always. I could see her running from table to table with a smile on her face, chatting with the patrons.
Once again, our food was excellent. I also appreciate that the menu is extensive and affordable and that they do a wonderful grilled cheese lunch for the kiddos! My now four-year-old thought it was delicious... and he's not always an easy sell.
From the service to the food to the atmosphere, Gather is made with love. And you feel it. It's my understanding that they are moving into a larger space just down the street. They deserve all their success!
Kerri - I only ask that you make the new space as beautiful as you made your first. 🩷
P.S. When writing a review, I always look to see if the owners/managers acknowledge/respond to them. It speaks volumes to me when they do (and also when they don't...). I see Gather responds to all their reviews, which should tell you something about how much they care about their service and product... and me and you...
Read moreWe love Gather in Perth so much. Their food is creative and delicious, and the people are wonderful.
Lunch is their main offering and the menu is truly unique. (Do check out the menu.) You can get a sandwich between $10 and $18, which includes a side soup or salad. The soups change regularly and are very yummy. Gluten-free bread and vegan options are available.
The co-owners have decades of experience in the hospitality industry. James and Kerri have both worked in and run high-end restaurants -- and it really shows. They go the extra mile (whipped maple butter on sandwiches) and they take excellent care of their customers (offering towels to dry off after coming in from a downpour).
More important tidbits... A local farm provides seasonal veggies. They have great beers from local microbreweries. Ask for the gluten-free, dairy-free carrot cake (it is incredible). If you get the opportunity, ask Kerri to describe food and drink pairing (she is a sommelier) or ask James how he prepared the dish you ate. They are really passionate about what they do and it is a joy to listen to them.
For a special occasion, book ahead for one of their monthly dinners. The dinner menu changes every month.
If you're looking for amazing food and a pleasurable dining experience, we really recommend checking out Gather.

Read moreOur visit to Perth started with us visiting the newly opened Gather. The restaurant has wonderful staff that are friendly, cheerful and very personable. I had the smoked beet (open faced) with the soup. The goat cheese used was very obviously of great quality. It's consistency was so creamy, it tasted more like double cream. It was absolutely heavenly. I can't tell you how happy I was that I chose the soup as opposed to the salad. The soup for today was not something I had ever tried. It was a dill pickle soup. If you are ever lucky enough to be there when that's the soup of the day, DO NOT HESITATE!!! It is creamy and full of flavour. I was so completely blown away by it and I let my server know how much I thought of it and that I would love the recipe. She gave me some of the info but said that it wasn't from a recipe more so it was from the chef's head. Imagine our surprise when the chef, owner James Gallant, came out to talk to me about the soup. He was so gracious and sweet to us and gave me more info with regards to the soup. Both my friend and I felt the food here was top notch. You can totally tell how much time and effort they have put into putting together a menu that offers wholesome, healthy and scrumptious food. Good luck to the owners. I have no doubt that you will have lots of people visiting your restaurant. We will be...
