Went to Mex&Co today for dinner with the family and I was very very dissapointed. I had gone to Mex&Co almost exactly 2 years ago and remebered having a great experiance. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. It was that memory that prompted my husband and I to make the 30 min drive to Perth today to relive our Mex&Co dinning experience with our 3 children. I dont know what has happened to this resaurant over the past 2 years but it has really gone down hill. The food quality was severely diminished and the prices were not reasonable for the quality of food we recived. Our waitress was extreamly polite, friendly and courteous but there are flaws even great serving staff cannot make up for. Firstly there were catipillars everywhere. We chose to eat outside as it was a nice day and sitting on the patio by the water is one of the selling points for this restaurant, but there were squished catapillars on the floor, live ones crawling around our chairs and one even fell on to my daughter's plate mid meal narrowly avoiding her food. We ordered fish tacos which were very little fish and more filler and batter than anything else and the pinapple on the taco wasnt even fresh! It was from a can and tasted terrible. I could not believe paying what we did for the tacos and reciving canned pinapple and in a restaurant! $20 for 3 fish tacos maybe half a serving of fish all together alot of filler and canned pinapple... I mean come on. I ordered a side of beans and rice which was advertised as: A side of beans and rice for an additional $4 On the menu. The rice was hard and dry obviously made hours in advance maybe even the day before by the taste of it and the portions were pretty small. The worst part was on our bill I was charged $4 for the beans and an additional $4 for the rice when the menu stated both for $4. We paid $8 extra for a SIDE of beans and rice. Maybe a quarter cup of each. On top of that the children's menu is so over priced. Almost $9 for half a cheese quesadilla and some pre frozen bagged french fries that were like mush in the centre. Not even real potatoes. Did not include dessert for the kids either which most places include in the kids meal price. The only good party about this dinner was the beer was cold and our server was great. Other than that I will never go back to Mex&Co and would not reccomend this place to ANYONE. I would seriously take a look at your menu and prices and try to get back to what it was like 2 years ago. Quality food made with quality ingredients and for a reasonable price. Maybe do something about the abundance of live and dead caterpillars on the patio and oh! add some more acid to your salsa. It was pretty flat. Some fresh lime would really brighten...

I first went to this restaurant back at the end of May of this year. My sister and I were promptly seated and served. The drinks were great and the poutine was aswell. The fries were amazing! I left very pleased. Then I returned again in June. This time around it was completely different. My sister and I arrived and waited to be seated as the little sign says on the patio. We were completely ignored by all staff, not even a “hello, someone will be with you shortly” I mean, they even do that at McDonald’s. After waiting for upwards of 5 minutes as staff continuously walked past we were fed up and left. Not please at all with the service. I get it. It’s June so it’s busy, but at least acknowledge the customer and let them know you’ll be with them rather than ignoring them until there’s no choice but to leave. Then come July. I was craving their amazing seasoned fries and poutine and since I got such poor service the last visit I thought I’d give it another shot. And let me tell you. I regret it. Once again. We arrived and waited to be seated. Again we were ignored as a waitress walked past us 4 times. As we waited another couple came in behind us and waited as well. The waitress acknowledged them right away, she was extremely polite and asked where they’d like to be seated. Here we go again was all I could think. Then she looked at us and said, “and what do you want to do?” As if we were a complete inconvenience for her. My sister told her that service would suffice. Then once we were seated (we sat inside this round) I noticed how absolutely filthy it is. There is dust and dead bugs EVERYWHERE. This place needs a deep clean. I don’t even want to see the kitchen. I ordered the poutine as I was craving the fries with the amazing seasoning and next thing I knew it was right in front of me. Not even 5 minutes after ordering. Some may think this is good however, I don’t. The food was cold and the French fries had NO seasoning. NOT worth the approximate $12. And not as advertised. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment. The service and cleanliness of the place is disgusting. Save your coin, go...

July 1, 2025: 2nd visit 5/5 stars We visited Mex & Co. again on our road trip to Perth and the Tex-Mex food was awesome.

The Chimichanga was awesome. It’s pretty much a flour tortilla wrapped with chicken and cheese that is deep fried. Would defintely recommend, if you craving a good Chimichanga.

The Baja Fish and Chips were awesome. The Baja Fish was crispy on the outside and soft and flavourful on the inside. The French fries were crispy and delicious. Would definitely recommend, if you are craving good Baja fish and chips.

The Baja Fish Taco and Pollo Fish Taco were also delicious and filling.

The Churro Donut was awesome. If you are craving a good churro, would definitely recommended the churro here.

The Raspberry Hibiscus Iced Tea was good. It was a good refreshing iced tea :)

— April 5, 2025: 1st visit 5/5 stars The Tex-Mex food at Mex & Co. was awesome. We were surprised to find such good Tex-Mex food in the Perth, ON area which has been around for 28 years and counting. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good Tex-Mex food.

The Funky Q Quesadilla which had grilled chicken, pineapple, honey garlic, and shredded cheese was awesome. The grilled chicken went well with sweetness of the honey garlic and pineapple. It was a really good and delicious quesadilla.

The Baja Fish Taco with rice, pineapple salsa and lime mayo was awesome. The beer battered Baja Fish was crispy on the outside and flaky, soft and delicious on the inside. The rice, pineapple salad and lime mayo were good and went well with the Baja Fish. The Baja Fish Taco was so good that we ordered another one to enjoy :)

The side order of their French Fries was awesome. The French Fries were crispy and flavourful. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some good French Fries.

The Churro Donuts were awesome. It was soft, not too sweet with cinammon goodness. Wish there was an option to add vanilla ice cream which would have made the Churros heavenly. Would definitely recommend if you are craving some...

Wow, staff went over the fence into the canal water to help locate customer's dropped phone! That's an above and beyond service. We had witnessed the dedication of the service from one of the waitresses that happened right next to our table. A lady sat beside the canal had unfortunately dropped her phone into the water. Beneath the surface, it was covered by water plants and algae that basically made it really difficult to know the exact location of any dropped item. The staff initially came over to help out with the long handle fishing net, but without much success after some attempts. Later to everyone's surprise, she climbed over the fence and dropped down to the canal water, and using the torchlight to get better visibility into the water. We didn't get a chance to know if she eventually found the lost phone for the customer after we left, but was admired on her action to help the customer. Although it was around 10°C~12°C, but I can imagine how cold the water can be around fall especially late in the afternoon. I wish the lost phone was found with a happy ending. We had a chance to visit the beautiful town Perth on the Thanksgiving Monday. After taking a stroll at the near by Steward Park in the afternoon, we were happy to learn this restaurant was open and there is the patio by the canal with the gorgeous view. We enjoyed the fajita poutine and baja fish tacos very much. Would definitely recommend this place for visitor to Perth who like to try out the Mexican food.

It could be great, and I'm sure the patio vibe is nice. But we sat inside and unfortunately had a really bad experience in a lot of ways. The interior decor is charming but they didn't play any music inside which really killed the vibe, we could hear everyone around us' conversation. Lots of fruit flies too. We ordered expensive drinks that tasted like watered down versions of pouches from the LCBO. And the food is so overpriced for what you get. For example one in our party ordered regular nachos for $16 and had to pay extra $1 for sour cream and $2.75 for guac (see picture) which felt very penny pinching. They advertise that their nachos are layered flat for extra topping coverage but what that really means is that there's hardly any chips! Overall the food was very cheap/mediocre and felt inauthentic, yet was extremely expensive as if it were an upscale restaurant. The service was also not great, we had to wait about 20 minutes just to get our bill despite asking 3 times. I don't usually leave bad reviews but I was out for dinner for my 30th birthday and overall the whole experience was really disappointing, felt like a huge rip-off and put a real dampener on my evening. The location is very appealing and I have heard the restaurant used to be better, but it really feels like current management is making very little effort.
