Pretty nice museum! The historic house, originally owned by the Matheson family, gives a very good peek into what life looked like when Perth was young.

The first two floors have been restored to when the family lived there, and provides a number of period correct details that you can walk up to and look at. No touching! 😃 Other museums will rope-off rooms so you can't enter, but here you can walk right in. Gives more of an immersive experience.

The third floor has some other area displays which include the Haida war ship, and some mineral and other historic town items.

The museum does not have an entrance fee, you are just asked to donate. You can also book ahead of time on line. We walked up and there was no issue.

Staff was helpful, and willing to answer questions, whether about the museum, or Perth, they can provide insight into the history...

When our group of five walked into the museum, the first impression was that the staff didn’t seem very welcoming. Before we even started looking around, they immediately mention the donation box. Personally, I feel that it would make more sense for visitors to first experience the museum, get a sense of its value, and then decide how much to donate, since it’s not supposed to be mandatory.

The museum itself was nice, and the exhibits were interesting, but when we left, we didn’t feel very happy about the experience. Even though we made a donation, when we tried to say goodbye, the staff remained cold and barely responded. I’m not sure if it was a case of racial bias or simply indifferent service, but overall, the staff’s attitude felt distant. The museum is worth visiting, but the customer experience could definitely...

Have been unable to visit whilst in Perth previously as museum had been closed for refurbishment. Paid a visit today to see the Stone of Destiny. The stone itself was well worth seeing, such an historical artefact. The presentation and information that came with it was somewhat missing in that it could have been a lot more informative, we left with lots of unanswered questions. Will be going to my local library to see if I can find a book on it. The rest of the museum was slightly underwhelming, good artefacts in places and a good Roman selection and also some good displays about the Jacobites but not much else to really see.

Oooopppss, wrong Perth! Thank you to the owners who advised me 😳! Much...

It is self guided museum, very well maintained and has so much history to offer about the town Christien, at the reception/ gift show is one of the sweetest person you vould meet. Very helpful with information and has a board with all sorts of events marked for the town. Would recommend making this the first stop when visiting Perth, that way one can find about other sites that one might / should visit around town 🙃

A day we’ll spent in Perth today, Perth museum, I have been here several times, just to learn more about the locals and the history of the village is something extra ordinary. Staff at the museum are friendly, there is a little gift shop in the ground floor, it is accessible for disabled (just for the ground floor)! 😊 Wash room is also located at the ground floor.
