Hard to believe anyone who's had more than a few pizzas in their life could consider this good let alone great. The ingredient quality is all over the place. The pepperoni is of low quality: no in house charcuterie here, ;). The bacon is indiscernible tiny bits that, if collected from the half of the pizza they were ordered on, would be lucky to weigh more 15 grams. The hot peppers on the same half included three pieces of stems. Characteristic of hot peppers from a giant pickle jar, anyone who has worked in a decent pizza place knows any conscientious owner/operator would insist these be picked out if they were using this poor product. No such attention to detail from this chain. The other half was non-descript ham with the other two ingredients being green peppers and tomatoes. The vegetables were adequate from a freshness perspective but, sadly, diced into mince. As anyone who has toured Italy knows, tomatoes can be tricky on pizza. They can leave the pizza soupy if too high in water content. Obviously some varieties are better than others. These are not San Marzanoes. Papa's has overcome any potential soupiness issues by dicing them into dust, giving an early McCain's look to the pizza. So, as much as I'm befuddled by the idea that someone with any breadth to their palate experience regarding pizza could consider this good, I'm absolutely gobsmacked that someone could consider this establishment's garlic bread... well, garlic bread. One commenter called Pizza Land's garlic bread, "the best." It isn't. The garlic bread here is actually cheese pizza with the sauce served as some kind of a cross between tomato sauce and barbeque sauce reminiscent of the pizza sauce or local nacho sauce you find in the epicurean centre of Ireland! I'm not sure what category of pizza you would call this. It's sort of a cross between the traditional square pizza known as Detroit Pizza and the bizarrely flavoured sauce pizza of St. Louis. The true category for this pizza is Chain pizza and the chain it most closely resembles is Papa John's. We will give it one more chance in a month or so but, unless something drastic changes two stars is on the...
Read moreAbsolutely unacceptable experience at Papa’s Pizzaland in Peterborough. I went in to pick up an order and was shocked by how poorly the staff behaved. First of all, they didn’t even give me my full order—30 wings and an entire pizza were missing. That’s not a small mistake. When I realized and went back to get the missing items, things only got worse.
One of the delivery guys, who was oddly working behind the counter and wearing sunglasses indoors, was incredibly rude. He used foul language in front of other customers and had a terrible attitude like he couldn’t be bothered to help. There was no apology, no professionalism, and no sense of responsibility from anyone working there.
Instead of fixing their mistake politely, they made the situation worse with their behavior. This isn’t how you treat customers who are paying for your service. The whole experience was stressful, disrespectful, and disappointing. I honestly regret giving this place my order, and I won’t be making that mistake again.
Avoid this place if you want decent service and respect—there are much better pizza spots in Peterborough that actually value...
Read moreWe order pizza from here often enough, and have always enjoyed it. This time however will be the last.
We ordered pizzas online for delivery, and it took an hour and a half to get to us. I know it can be busy, and things happen, but it’s a very long time to wait.
Finally we get the pizzas, and after the first bite we realize the dough is only half cooked, to the point of being inedible. We even checked the whole pizza to see if it was just one slice. But both pizzas we ordered were raw.
We called the restaurant and were told we “didn’t ask for it to be cooked ‘well done’ so it wasn’t their fault that the pizza was cooked incorrectly”. We asked to speak to a manager, and after a bit of arguing they agreed to make us two new pizzas, but that they had other deliveries so they would get to us when they could.
Fast forward and hour later, the pizzas come, and they are slightly more cooked than before, but still doughy.
I know restaurants get busy, mistakes happen. But they didn’t even try to make it right, and they just didn’t seem to believe the pizza...
