The Cabin — Restaurant in Peterborough

The food was delicious overall. It definitely satisfied my hankering for chip truck fries. Unfortunately my experience was spoiled when we did not receive half of our order. My husband had ordered a poutine and a root beer, I ordered a burger, fries and a root beer. We only received the burger and the poutine. When we asked for the rest of our order the cashier dismissed us until my husband asked for the receipt print off. To the cashier's surprise (same cashier all along) she owed us two root beers, but she had not charged us for the fries that we asked for. And that was it. No offer to make fries, no "I'm sorry I didn't hear you because the music was so loud, let me get you the fries you had ordered". I value quality customer service if I'm going out for a meal, in fact I value customer service in general. If you're looking for food, and knockoff Heinz ketchup, this is the place for you. On a ride through Peterborough and passed this place. We were hungry and needed to stop. I was pretty sure we would find more chip vendors along our way but I didn't want to wait much longer so we tried. We each ordered a small poutine so not to mess with our plans for dinner. Menu stated they used Empire curds so I figured we were going to enjoy. Fries are shoestring size. In addition they were overcooked, at least for a decent poutine. Curds were the best part of the meal, I've never had to pay for a poutine that didn't have decent fries as a base.Not sure what the fella in the back cooking was having an issue with, but you could see him constantly talking to himself and it was evident he was using the "F" word regularly. Stopped by Sat. evening about 6:45pm with my girlfriend and our 3yr old daughter. Openly heard the two employees ( male and female) complaining and bad mouthing customers showing up to make orders so close to closing. The two were talking loud enough to imply but not directly speak to us or the couple who where in line ahead of us. My girlfriend asked the male employee if he was upset we were ordering " late". He rudely responded "ya kinda". Needless to say I saved myself some money and did not make an order. We will not return back either ever again. Don't waste your time or hard earned money there.
