Even though the Trent-Severn Waterway wasn't operational during my visit, it was still a beautiful and worthwhile experience. Walking along the waterway and seeing the historic locks up close gave me a real appreciation for the engineering and history behind this iconic Canadian site.

The peaceful surroundings, combined with the impressive structures, made it a lovely place to explore and learn. Interpretive signs along the way helped bring the history to life, even without the boats moving through. It’s clear that once it’s fully open for the season, it must be an incredible place to experience on the water.

I’m really looking forward to returning when the waterway is operational — but even now, it’s absolutely worth the visit for its scenic beauty and...

Wow! The sitting Liberal Government just announced $74,000,000.00 of taxpayers money to update 6 locks, during their highest inflation in decades, highest unemployment, highest drug addiction and abuse in years, most homeless and mental health problems in the areas of the locks and THIS is what $74million is being used for??? Fixing locks for the wealthy to putter up in their huge, gasoline and diesel sucking boats, spewing exhaust and spilling wastes into our rivers? How does this “help the climate” that they quoted, or anything or anyone else at that matter? How much does the TSW produce in income per year? How much is spent in the communities by the users each year….not much! This is another example of gross, unnecessary Government spending when we citizens...

Review: A Charming Visit to a Historic Community

We recently visited a family friend in a beautiful community and had an amazing time exploring the local area. One of the highlights was watching the boat locks in action. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, providing insightful information about the historic significance of the locks.

The trails around the area were picturesque, especially in the morning light, which made for a refreshing and scenic walk. The experience was further enhanced by a surprising sight: we even spotted a snake in the water! 😱 Overall, it was a delightful visit, and we highly recommend it to anyone interested in...

Such a national treasure. Here @ Lock 32, in Bobcaygeon, Ontario we saw boats from Florida and Texas, doing the Great Circle Tour. This route makes it possible for boats to travel from the ocean through Canada's North Channel and back to the ocean, an inspiring trip along the route of the courier-du-bois and the explorers who mapped this country. Tiny towns and connected rivers and lakes take you on a journey full of the joy of summer in Canada.

Embarked on a cruise featuring the world's tallest hydraulic lift lock, witnessing the fascinating science behind its operation. Marveled at how the boat rises with the water level through this ingenious system. Remarkably, this engineering feat has been in use since 1904. The manually operated bridges along the route evoked a sense of stepping back in time. An unmissable experience for history and engineering enthusiasts alike.
