I’ve been here several times, and it’s good everytime. They have a very big menu with plenty of vegetarian options as well as some vegan options (far more vegan options than you’d have at most restaurants), so I like to review the options beforehand so I don’t end up taking forever deciding at the restaurant.
Both their Indian and Hakka options are delicious. This time around, I ordered Indo-Chinese bhel, manchow soup, and their tandoori veg platter, and my parents got Hakka fried rice, tadka dal, hakka noodles, and bhuna ghosht.
As usual, the food was delicious. The Indo-Chinese bhel and manchow soup are excellent new additions to their Hakka menu. The bhel is made of noodles and fried finely julienned vegetables with a delicious sauce. As for the manchow, it’s hard to describe. It’s delicious, but it’s hard to say what the flavour is, except that it tastes like a “Chinese soup”. Either way, it’s now one of my favourite soups, and my parents loved it as well. I’m definitely going to order these new dishes again in the future.
Now onto the tandoori veg platter. I really like it. It has a variety of vegetarian proteins, each with different sauces and/or seasonings. It is on the more expensive side, so I don’t order it every time I go, but I do order it as a special treat every now and then. I really like the variety of flavours in the platter, and I even enjoy the cauliflower which is actually one of my least favourite vegetables. I really like the new addition to the platter—the creamy, cheesy soya chaap (not sure what they’re actually called, but I think it might be the do ranga soya chaap).
The other foods we ordered were what you’d expect from a good Indian restaurant, but out of them the bhuna ghosht really stood out to me. The beef was extremely tender, it wasn’t overly saucy, and the flavour was just plain tasty.
I included photos of three of the dishes: Indo-Chinese bhel, manchow, and the tandoori...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were in the Peterborough area for the day and wanted to get some dinner before leaving town. We decided to check out The Imperial Tandoor because we had been curious to try for a long time now.
We were quickly greeted and seated on the patio which we had asked for.
The dinner experience at The Imperial Tandoor was great. Our server was attentive and was able to answer the questions that we had with the menu. They promptly brought us glass bottles of cold water which we enjoyed.
We began our dinner by ordering the samosas appetizer. The presentation of the samosas was very nice. They were piping hot and came with two sauces that both had great flavour. The samosas themselves tasted amazing. The seasoning was on point. The pastry itself was nice and thin. I would highly recommend the samosas.
For our main course we ordered the Chana Masala and Chicken Biryani with a couple butter naan on the side.
The serving dishes and presentation of the entrees were top notch. Very visually appealing. But of course it's about the taste. How did these entrees fair?
Well the Chicken Biryani was delicious. There were several chunks of nice and tender white meat. Very flavorful. The rice was cooked just right. It was very good.
The Chana Masala was also a homerun. Such great flavours and had a good level of heat (which we had asked for). The chick peas were very delicious.
The butter naan was also great. Nice and thin naan that was clearly freshly baked.
I would recommend all these dishes. It was a great dinner experience. Great food with a fantastic presentation. Great service. Very friendly and attentive. My girlfriend and I left quite full and were able to take home our...

The restaurant is well appointed, with all the touches that make you feel both welcomed and transported to an entirely different place. The staff, not just the owner, are courteous and welcoming. Often stopping by to make sure that we had everything we needed.
We decided to build our table (something that we are very used to doing). This means that you order dishes, to be shared among the table and this allows for you to try many different items from the menu.
We decided on an appetizer platter, to get us started. The Mila Zula includes Samosas palak kebab (cut in half to share), pakoras. SOOOO good, we took our time, trying each one and savoring every bite.
The meal consisted of Garlic Butter Naan, Butter Chicken, Aloo Gobhi and white rice. Everything tasted wonderful, from the tender pieces of butter chicken to the seasoned cauliflower. I even splurged and had a piece of the Naan. I adhere to a very low carb lifestyle, but this dinner was an exception and I'm glad that I tried everything.
It turns out that by the end of the meal my husband and I agreed that we would indeed be back. Now, when can we manage to drive...
