Update: Dec. 13, 2020
When I wrote this review 5 years ago I stated how well this food is worth the wait - it very much is, and it's still made flawless today. However the quantity given VS raising the price (which covid may or may not have changed) definitely has had an impact on if I'll bother ordering again. When I do I usually order food well over $100+ on each order, but lately they have been skimping on portions. Their box sizes for chicken balls / shrimp / fried chicken and fries have dropped in size by half in a period of 5 years why their prices have went up by 25%. Their size for rice, chow mien, chop suey, general tow, etc have remained closer to the same. Now I know people won't usually order fries from here, but charging $4.50 for a size smaller than McDonalds take out is wrong as using half the size box than the already downsized box for chicken balls; use the same is my opinion or don't bother selling fries at all.
Otherwise staff is friendly, professional and do care for your orders; I just can't justify paying out high prices for little portions. I not asking that you send out the entire store, but it should be comparable to competition. You can argue that you are; but then if the competition is doing the same - it really isn't. I know it's covid, I know you are struggling, it's partly why I tip drivers very well - but that's not excuse skimping as far as its gone. Should this business survive the pandemic, and supply chains return to normal I expect in the future to see either more portions given for the price, or a lower price otherwise count me out. Perfection is great to get, but not if you can't even get full of an order. Sorry I don't have any pictures to compare size, but most people know what I mean.
Oct. 4, 2015:
I kept meaning to order from here sooner, and this time when I called they said between 90 minutes - 2 hour wait for pick-up order. At least this time they were in the ball park, so before I review the food: understand that if you are going to order from here (and you should), be prepared for patience. That said I guarantee if you can sit through the wait, it's worth every $ and every bite.
We ordered the Family Meal for 5. Everything was made fresh, and when we got back home North End in Peterborough, it was still hot and delicious. The shrimp hurt my gut personally, but that could be just me: my kids seem to have had no issues. Chicken balls perfectly well done and huge. Portions still exactly as I remember them to be on top of tasty Chicken Fried Rice, Chow Mein and Beef Veg Stir Fry. I hope you stick around for a while, would love to order from here again. Prices are fair and worth it. Thank you very much for a much better service, keep it up: and praise to the...

The only negative thing I have to say after reading other reviews is, the owner's response to some of them is extremely sarcastic and not becoming whatsoever. You know what they say about sarcasm, it's the weapon of the weak, a sign of aggression, the lowest form of wit and the refuge of a shallow mind. Your {the owner} attitude is so unbecoming that it just may cost you business.
Now to the food. Above average for PTBO. but that is never saying much, no matter the cuisine, as this city has many restaurants and the vast majority aren't worth going to if they were free.
I am almost 60 and have lived in or near PTBO. for the majority of my life and had drive thru, delivery or ate in more times and at more food establishments in The Patch than I could possibly count.
At present I live an hour away but got take out from here 2 days ago and still have food to eat. I spent over $50 and have enough food for 3 days. I ordered the following:
Moo Goo Gai Pan, 2 X Mushroom Fried Rice, Mushroom Chop Suey, 1 each Egg Roll and Vegetable Spring Roll
Food was still quite warm when I got it, someone brought it out to me. I refrigerated it immediately and had some rice plus the 2 rolls later in the evening.
Take into account that my review is based on nuked food so it's not going to be as good as if it were eaten while still warm after delivery.
Rice is fine nuked of course but the egg roll was hard, seemed slightly over cooked by the restaurant. I didn't cook it, I only reheated. It also was nothing to write home about as far as egg rolls go and that had nothing to do with nuking it. The filling had no taste whatsoever.
This was the 1st time I ever tried a spring roll of any kind and it will be the last. I ate it because I hate food going to waste and getting ripped off my money but, it was disgusting. Drowned it in plum sauce and that still didn't help.
I just ate the rest of the 1st order of mushroom fried rice that I couldn't finish before and also the moo goo gai pan {well some of both}. The rest of both will be going to the garbage.
The rice in general is just okay. The moo goo gai pan, somewhat disappointing as the chicken wasn't good tasting at all and the entire dish, nothing great either.
One more order of rice yet to go and an order of mushroom chop suey later today and/or tomorrow. I do not have high hopes for it.
I really don't think I'll be buying...
Read moreWatch out someone is going to sick from here. Food sitting in sinks uncovered, kitchen absolutely filthy for sure would be shut down by food inspectors. Just look at the grime around the doors to the kitchen while waiting for your food. We seen raw chicken sitting in a sink next to garbage and grime and dust and I just walked out. Disgusting definitely health code violation. Nice people hard workers decent food but cleanliness is certinally lacking and I don't think anyone has ever cleaned the place. Not good when it comes to prepping and serving food. (Probably because the orders never stop) The whole place needs a scrub down and safe food preparation practices need to be put in place.
In response the very rude reply, this is a honest review of what was experienced in your establishment. Almost every restaurant in the kawarthas is "non white" as you'd put it, only someone as arrogant as yourself would bring race into it. Clean your kitchen instead of getting upset and attacking people for posting an honest review. There was no attack on your character or food, just the preparation. You should be embarrassed.
And for the record we do NOT eat there since witnessing this.
The amount of grime in that building is absolutely unacceptable. Open a door or look behind something and it's nothing but filth. White stairs that are completely black going down to the basement, doors covered in grease and grime, dust cob webs above the kitchen doors, there's nothing clean about it. How about you pride yourself on being clean and take the action necessary to operate a clean food...
