This Japanese restaurant left a truly wonderful impression on me, primarily because of its spacious layout, the simple yet elegant decor, and, most importantly, the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The servers consistently provided excellent service—they were gentle and polite when serving dishes, proactive in refilling our tea without us needing to ask, and even kindly inquired if we wanted ice cream after finishing our meal. Such thoughtfulness really stood out. After we finished eating, my friends and I wanted to stay a bit longer to continue chatting, and we felt slightly guilty about possibly occupying their time. However, the servers, with warm smiles on their faces, reassured us that it was absolutely no problem and encouraged us to relax and enjoy our time. They mentioned that they still had plenty of time before their shift ended, which made us feel incredibly welcome and appreciated as guests. This level of hospitality truly enhanced our experience and made it unforgettable. The food itself was also quite tasty, with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors. However, to be perfectly honest, for an AYCE (all-you-can-eat) restaurant, the variety of dishes felt a bit limited compared to other similar establishments. Nevertheless, it was sufficient to satisfy most cravings. One notable downside was the absence of miso soup, which I felt was a classic and essential Japanese offering. To enhance the menu, I would suggest adding tofu dishes or iconic Japanese items like soba noodles. These additions wouldn’t significantly increase the cost but would undoubtedly elevate the menu’s authenticity and appeal.

Went here on a monday night (civic holiday) around 5 and it was pretty empty. Got service (and our meals) fairly quick and didn’t have any complaints the service besides they didn’t look very happy to serve us. The outside of the restaurant isn’t the most appealing but the inside was very clean and so were the washrooms. We decided not to get all you can eat. The meal I got was a sushi deluxe (missing salmon sushis because I ate it) and the rest of my family got bento boxes. The bento boxes looked way better than my bland and not fresh meal. The spicy tuna was not spicy at all and very bland. It’s hard to believe they could screw up such an easy and basic maki!!!! I liked the portioning for the price but wish the sushi was more fresh, less chewy, and not room temperature. What I did enjoy was the miso soup and tempura. I think the cooked items would be a better idea for this restaurant. Overall, wouldn’t go back but wasn’t all terrible.

I went today, July 18, 2021 to 1298 All You Can Eat Sushi for lunch Dine In, in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. The Sushi, Miso Soup, Shrimp Tempura, and ice cream was delicious!!! The price during the Stage 3 opening in Ontario, Canada was reasonable and still affordable at $21.99+TAX. I paid about $27 and change with tip for my delicious all you can eat Sushi Lunch which is still reasonable and affordable. I completely understand that prices have increased during this horrible Covid-19 pandemic crisis and I am glad that I can enjoy a delicious all you can Sushi lunch at an amazing Sushi Restaurant, and that I can support the restaurant industry and this wonderful restaurant, 1298 Sushi in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. I highly recommend 1298 Sushi in Pickering for their excellent service, amazing all you can eat Sushi lunch!!! Thank you. 😃😉😊🇨🇦

Needed some alone time and since this place is close to home decided to go. I should have stayed home and ordered in. I got there at around 6:45pm got seated and placed my order and at this time the section I was placed in was only myself and another couple . My dishes came very slow I was done eating one before the other even came. Placed another order waited 15 mins by this time the section started to fill up, I told a waitress I placed another order and nothing came she said ok and walked off I assumed she was going to check on my order I was wrong I waited another 10 mins. Nothing told another waitress I’m still waiting on my order she to walked away and again I assumed she was going to check on my food at this point the other patrons that came after I was already sitting waiting for my food have gotten their dishes and I’m sitting there with an empty table waiting. I was trying not to be rude as we are already stereotyped but it was ridiculous at this point I was being blatantly ignored. I told one more waitress and I even put in another order and still after 10 mins I got upset and asked for the check put my coat on and what do you know here comes my food I have been waiting dam near 40 mins for, she then asks “ohh you don’t want anymore” I say NO I need the check please. I paid my bill the waitress came and said sorry I politely said please move and walked out that establishment. I am always willing to give 2nd chances but this was not the 1st time having a not so pleasant experience here and it will certainly be my last. It was embarrassing and disgusting to sit there and watch everyone else be served and not...

We have been coming to 1298 Sushi regularly for the last few years. In support of small business during the closure we continued to order takeout. Upon reopening our family has dined in for lunch, having mediocre service. The last 3 visits we have dined in for dinner have been the absolute worst, this evening being the cherry on top.

Service was terrible, staff unfriendly and orders incorrect. The first 15 minutes were spent sharing that our tablet was not working, as the screen appeared to be on a previous sitting still. After the issue was addressed, we were asked to renter our order to which incorrect items were being delivered to the table. After waiting about 30 minutes with 2 small children, we started to receive a few pieces that we had ordered. Following the few pieces there was a lull in service and again we waited for another 20 minutes, only to be told that our tablet was not working and we would need to reorder.

Finally after 1 hour and 45 minutes we finally received our last request (that we had to ask for 5x) only to have it arrive burnt and over cooked.

Upon asking for the bill, I shared with the server that I would like something to be done for the poor experience this evening. Upon her return I was told that nothing would be done.

After 3 years and weekly family dinners, I will no longer order or visit 1298 Sushi. Disappointed how long term, loyal customers are treated by this...
