2019 UPDATED REVIEW:
This location has the absolute WORST Manager named David.
I ordered one garlic chicken dish for takeout and discovered it to be very sweet.
When we called the location to let them know, the manager was extremely rude. We explained to him that the dish was sweet despite it have a chilli symbol next to it indicating spice. And all he said was "So? That doesn't mean anything"
We were also pretty disappointed to see that they did not provide any red chili sauce or chillies an vinegar.
When we mentioned this to the manager he said: " You have to ask for, just like you have to ask for napkins and forks". To which we replied, "we actually did get both the napkins and forks without asking"
Ultimately we did NOT appreciate the rude attitude of the staff or the quality of the food we recieved.
This is actually a surprisingly different experience than the last time this location made a mistake with out order back in the summer of 2017, where they offered to give us a replacement dish the next time we came in. I don't know if the management or policy has changed her since then, but we most certainly will NOT be returning to this location.
MARCH 2018:
Delicious food and fast service every time, and at a reasonable price.
I some of my usual go-to dishes are:
Chicken Pakoras - some of the best ones out there, they use great chunks of meat, and they are fried to perfection! Also the batter is Gram flour/ chickpea flour based, so if you're gluten free it's worth a try!
Veggie Hakka Noodles - good, but sometimes can be a bit soggy because the noodles themselves are a bit flimsy.
Chili Chicken with Gravy - a staple! it has a lot of green chillies
Manchurian Chicken with Gravy - Tossed in a Red Manchurian Sauce, it has a great taste and its not too spicy!
Veggie Fried Rice - it's honestly just as good as the Chicken Fried Rice, (they just substitute the chicken with Broccoli ) so if you have vegetarian with you, definitely get this to share!
Chicken Corn Soup - A Hakka Staple! It's a pretty mild soup with exactly as its described; chicken and corn.
Hot and Sour Soup - absolutely delicious! There is chicken in it, but I believe you can get it vegetarian as well.
One thing I loved was that I was able to get the chicken fried rice made with less oil, and it was amazing. I'm definitely going to try asking for less oil when ordering all my dishes next time.
I have also catered a small party at home with food from Spicy Dragon Pickering twice and it was a great experience -...
Read moreI came here with a friend for lunch during a work day and ordered the Pineapple Chicken dish. There isn't a description of what the dish is, or a picture - so I just assumed it was a traditional pineapple chicken. When the dish came, it was smothered in red sauce and I could tell the chicken along with veggies were frozen, pre-cooked, and then heated in a wok. Then, they just poured sauce over top. I would have been fine with this if it tasted good, but it had no flavor. I tried one small bite with a piece of chicken, and it tasted like water with sauce thrown on top. When the server came back, I politely asked if I could switch my order to what my coworker had ordered. I would have been fine to pay for both as well. However, the server said to me "you touched it" - so I responded with "I did and it doesn't have much flavor, could I please just order one of those? (pointing to my coworkers dish that I had tried and liked)". The server repeated herself "you touched it" and walked away. 15 minutes later, she returned with the bill with both the pineapple chicken and my coworkers meal as a charge. When I walked up to the front to ask this server why I was being charged, why I didn't have a second order, and why didn't she come back to rectify the situation.... she looked down, shook her head at me and walked away. There was another server at the counter who said to me "It isn't bad. A lot of people order it." I was able to have the charge removed (I literally had ONE tiny flavorless piece of premade frozen reheated chicken) - after arguing with the second server about why I shouldn't have to pay and how at this point I don't have a lunch. I was under the impression that the second order was being made the entire time. Then was presented with a bill, then argumentative staff. WILL NEVER GO BACK AND WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD THIS WORD. TERRIBLE SERVICE. TERRIBLE FOOD. I walked over to KFC and picked up take out. MUCH BETTER. I don't even like...
Read moreMy advice is that you should NOT go there to eat... Here is our story, and My wife, I and baby went there one day to eat. Walked in, we weren't greeted, but were sat down with basic grunts and fingers pointing to the booth we should sit in. There were about three other families sitting in the adjoining booths. All of the waitresses, including the one that sat us down, looked angry and miserable - like how dare we walk in now (when they weren't very busy) and bother them (maybe they wanted a break, who knows). Anyway, the waitress flung (threw) the menus on the table as if we were horses waiting to eat cattle. It was really rude. I as the waitress was walking away, I said excuse me, why did you throw the menus like that? She just mumbled something, flung her hand up in the air as if to say "yeah, whatever" and walked away. I called her attention again to this, and she got even more ruder. Finally, the people in the booth behind us heard me, and they also said she has been very rude to them. We got up, and we walked out. Would never eat there again. The time prior to this, I ordered take out. The staff was, again, rude, and abrasive. I dont think this is cultural, I just think they feel as if they are superior, and treat customers as if they aren't important, and even mistreat them. There was no reason for this waitress to throw the menus like that... it was very rude and it actually startled us, and my baby who was 11 months. On top of their faces, which looked very angry and miserable (and like they were constipated), compounded the unwelcome feeling we got. The food is not anything to talk about either. The other Hakka's are ten times more tasty. If you dont care that you are mistreated, go there, but we will not and we will tell all our families and friends and colleagues not to go...
