barBURRITO — Restaurant in Pickering

This place gets a solid 3 from me.

I first found out about this place in December 2018 and was so excited for it to open in January 2019.

The restaurant itself if really nice and clean, has a good amount of space for seating and some great decor. I came here on a Saturday night around 8pm and it was dead inside.

I was doing a family dinner run, so I was grabbing 3 burritos and one burrito bowl. The employee who helped me out, seemed like he was new, and still learning but I didn't mind. I will say, I'm not a huge fan of their serving style order. Since I had a few items, I naturally assumed that they would fill one burrito at a time and then move onto the next one, but their system was a little strange in that they wanted to fill the beans for all the burritos first, and then all the proteins for all the burritos, so it got pretty confusing. Even for the Burrito Bowl, they put beans first, then rice and then protein. Personally I would wan the rice the be the base of the dish, so that all the other flavours sit well on to. Putting the beans on the bottom actually caused the container to become very soggy very quickly as well. So I would definitely suggest they tweak that system a little.

The topping selection was good, and the sauce selection was great, they had a few unique hot sauces, like their house-made habenero sauce and their jalepeno sauce.

Stand Outs : One thing I really liked was that they had a chart showing the sizing differences between all the burritos. I really appreciated that because it really helped me decide which size to go with.

Their Soy Topping is actually pretty good, they are one of the few places that have one that tries to taste like Chicken ( anywhere else you go, they're always trying to taste like ground beef) so major points for that.

They also have an App & Rewards Program which is pretty easy to navigate and worth checking out.

The price point was actually pretty great. I was able to get 3 Regular Size Burritos & one Burrito Bowl for under $40.

TASTE: Personally, my Chicken Burrito was just ok, it was definitely filled to the max, but I still think it lacked some definitive flavours when I bit into it. For some reason, it was also cold at the core, which was pretty disappointing. The Chicken itself was pretty tasty but nothing amazing.

Overall it was a pretty good first impression, for me it's hard to get past the cold inside of the burrito, but I'd definitely be willing to try this place again. Especially with their...

The service was extremely slow, it took a half hour to get my food and it could have been prevented just by having a plan and starting with one customer from start to finish and starting another until the previous one was cashed out. 4 people left the restaurant because they told them the wait was going to be too long, two of the girls they told them they couldn't serve them after the girls were waiting for at least 10 minutes. Which is crazy, you never turn away customers or business.

When I arrived the one guy started my order then went on break. The other guy I know wanted to be helpful so he saw three of us in line and tried to start a three of our orders and do them all the same time, but you can't do that because we are all strangers and each of us are going to ask for different things. It's best to serve one customer from start to finish all the way through and cash them out. Instead he thought he could multitask and started all of our orders, he tried to wrap some and fill others. The one order that was complete, the guy waited 5 minutes just to be cashed out while his order was done but the server was working on everyone else's order. There was no structure and it was not efficient at all. I wouldn't go to this place again because it takes forever and the food is not memorable or great. I don't recommend this place. I recently visited BarBurrito Pickering with high hopes and a craving for some delicious Mexican cuisine. Unfortunately, what should have been a pleasant dining experience turned into a frustrating and disheartening encounter, thanks to an incredibly rude manager and employee.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was met with a cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. The manager seemed disinterested and dismissive from the moment I walked in. As I placed my order, the employee who was taking it displayed a shocking lack of professionalism. They were impatient, spoke rudely, and even rolled their eyes when I asked a few questions about the menu. It was clear that they had no interest in providing quality customer service.

To make matters worse, when my order was finally ready, the manager handed it to me with a complete lack of courtesy or even a simple smile. It felt as if I was inconveniencing them by being there. It was truly disheartening to be treated with such disrespect as a paying customer.

As someone who values good customer service, this experience was beyond disappointing. I believe that a friendly and welcoming environment is just as important as the food itself, and unfortunately, BarBurrito Pickering failed to deliver on both fronts during my visit.
