Philinos Ouest — Restaurant in Pointe-Claire

Had a nice dinner tonight - food was good, and the portions were generous. We had the trio of spreads as an entree and moussaka as a main. The atmosphere was festive so sometimes it was a bit hard to talk to my partner but it was understandable considering the large party they were accommodating. The prices to me were fine as it is a BYOW restaurant. The one thing that bothered me was the Greek salad that accompanied the meal. It has a surcharge of 4 dollars compared to other salads. I guessed it was because of the price of feta and olives. In the end though, there were 2 olives and a couple of crumbs of feta and pretty much the equivalent of a whole red onion - which I left. Not was I expect from a Greek salad in a supposedly highly regarded Greek restaurant - especially with them charging extra. I told the waitress and showed her the pile of onion in my plate - but it was disregarded and I was charged the 4 dollars. That was disappointing and...

To start off we were 2 couples and it cost us $350 with the tip and was a bring your own wine restaurant. We ordered the Calamari to start which was $28 and over cooked as well as the fried zucchini and tzatziki which was good. Both couples ordered the share plate which was $65 which came with home made sausage, two lamb chops, grilled chicken breast and pork. We asked for shrimp to be included and we were told it would be an extra $15 per shrimp because they were U6 huge. When we received the plates the shrimp were tiny and we were given two each lol this was ridiculous and they were over cooked. The sausage was also not good. The lamb chops were also $15 each if you wanted an extra which we didn't take. We ordered fries and Steam vegetables which were good. All in all we will not be returning. I just celebrated my 70th Birthday at Philinos with family and friends. We had booked a private room that accommodated a group of 30 very comfortably. The appetizers all the way to the main course were delicious and the portions were very generous and the meat platter contained a large variety of different grilled meats. The salads and potatoes were tasty and the service was great. The fried cheese flambed in brandy was a special show that impressed our guests. Thank you so much to Spiro for making the suggestions on the food and for being so accommodating to all our request. We had some guests that arrived late and they were taken care of very efficiently. Thank you to John our waiter who went above and beyond in serving our guests. I highly recommend that you book your next party at this Bistro. They will not disappoint you. ...
