I took my friend and daughter out to Sahib for my friend's birthday. The female server was absolutely wonderful and listened with interest to our requests. The male server on the other hand was so incredibly rude, I almost fell off of my chair and vow to never go back there again. It went like this: Me: "I'm vegan so I will take X and Y please. Server: "Where are you going to get your protein from that? Me thinking silently to myself: "Really?! And who died and made you my mother." Me and what I actually said: "I will take X and Y please." (Politely, as if he didn't hear me the first time) Me again: "I would also like to order a take out for my husband." Waiter: "No. We will finish with this business first (waiving his hand rapidly), and then you may order the take out when you have finished your meal." Me thinking to myself. Really? And then if I eat everything on my plate, my I have dessert please? Me a few moments later: "May we please have a second plate of X" The server, in an arrogant tone of voice: "I just gave you one.". Me thinking to myself: Yes you did. That is why I asked for a SECOND ONE!!! Me and what I actually said: "Yes, but we would like a second one." The server: "No. When I see you have finished the first one, then you may have a second one because I don't like waste" Then he walked away. Female server approaches our table and sees that I am royally cheesed off. Female server, directing her question to me: "Is there anything I can get you?" Me: Yes please. We would like another plate of X. Server with a smile: "Yes I will get that for you." Me: "Thank you." Finally we leave the restaurant 30 minutes away, I realized, holding a chai tea I couldn't drink and didn't order, that I left without my husband's meal. Indeed, partly my bad because, frazzled by the male server's rudeness and arrogant tone of voice, I forgot to order his meal on the way out. I call the restaurant to order the meal and say that I will be there shortly. Me to the same male server, upon my arrival back at the restaurant after a half hour drive. "This was unnecessary. if I had been able to order the take out at the table along with the other meals, I would not have had to make the trip back here." Server dismissively said: " That's ok." Me: "No it's not. IT'S VERY NOT OK! Throughout the dinner, mu friend, daughter and I expressed our shock at the male waiter's rudeness and tone of voice, acknowledging how polite, by contrast, the female server treated us. She was absolutely professional. Had my husband been there, I am certain this poor service would not...
Read moreMy first experience and I am an Indian ..a chef and foodie. Staff is nice no doubt and well spoken. I enjoyed talking to them in Hindi I did the Sunday buffet at $19.99 Let's start with desert Gulab Jamun: too soft and burnt Carrot halwa: one can visit any sweetshop and see the difference. The halwa at sahib was pressure cooked ( surprised) normally it has to be slow cooked with either milk or Khoya and garnished with nuts. This halwa was definitley anything else but not halwa. Appetizers: samosa đ was a joke ..white as anything what happened , forgot to fry it . They used Maida instead of all-purpose.and had to be golden brown. Tandoori was cold and how could tandoori be served without lime/citron and onion slices. Chicken tikka was without any tandoori masala but used SWEET BBQ SAUCE ..really The entire food was cold and then I was advised to take from bottom of the pot. The naan was without any butter ...dry and half cooked. Lamb curry was decent. Butter chicken..stop adding tons of sugar, it's not a sweet dish or dessert. The rice was cooked In an electric pot , no good old aroma of basmati rice The Palak paneer as the name read had 37 pieces of patato and no sign of panner....because 10 pounds of patato is about 3 or 4 dollars vs panner which is 5 for a small pack. The panner which was in with peas was dry which happens when it stays in the fridge and added uncooked .. The food was not at all Indian food and it was priced up compared to some other restaurants. Try food at beau village or maison curry and see the difference... The fish pakora was oily because the batter was diluted too much and fried which soaks up oil. it's a shame when people want to enjoy good Indian food and they feel happy after eating there because quite a lot of them don't know the real Indian food to compare... I see from other reviews that the owner blames everyone like they want free food hence the bad reviews . Mr.owner maybe you should really fix the problem first because you will loose customers left right and...
Read moreI recently visited Sahib Restaurant at Point Claire for their buffet, hoping to enjoy a satisfying meal with a variety of authentic Indian flavors. Unfortunately, my experience didnât meet expectations, especially considering the $30 plus taxes per person price tag.
Price vs. Value: The buffet was highly overpriced for the quality and variety offered. At $30 + tax per person, I expected a more flavorful and fresh spread, but it felt more like a rushed, mass-produced meal rather than something carefully prepared. This is especially disappointing for those of us with a true appreciation for Indian cuisine.
Food Quality: The most noticeable issue was the food temperature. Much of the food was served cold or lukewarm, which greatly impacted the overall enjoyment. Indian cuisine, with its rich spices and flavors, truly shines when itâs served at the right temperature, and sadly, that wasnât the case here.
Authenticity: For anyone who is familiar with the true flavors of Indian cuisine, this buffet falls short. The dishes lacked the depth of flavor and seasoning that are signature to Indian food. Even the more familiar option like butter chicken didnât have the richness or warmth I would have expected.
Service: The service was decent, but it didnât make up for the other shortcomings. The staff was friendly, but the food quality and pricing left a lot to be desired.
Overall: I left feeling that I didnât get my moneyâs worth. As someone who enjoys Indian cuisine, I was hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, this didnât meet my expectations. I would recommend trying other options in the area if you're looking for authentic Indian flavors at a more...
