Taco Del Mar — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

I've been coming to and ordering from Taco Del Mar in Poco for a couple years. They've always been polite and helpful. I love that they have a vegan option. I'm allergic to dairy and a vegan. Last time I ordered they put sour cream on my burrito even though I specified vegan. The options on skip the dishes lets you customize, so there shouldn't be an issue. I am just leaving the parking lot now, thinking I'd give it another go. I got the beyond meat with no dairy on a burrito. Guac has never been Extra before, but she made sure to tell me a couple times. She also put her gloves on to help me, then walked around to the front to move a "Caution" sign and went back behind the counter, without changing her gloves. I asked her to and from that point on I was given attitude. Not one smile, not one thank you or anything. She was very short with me. I've been in the service industry for 17 years. I know we can dislike our tasks from time to time, even forget things, and that's ok. But a bad attitude and rolling her eyes when I asked for veggies, isn't good service. I don't think I'll be back. I used to have nothing but awesome experiences. *edit - I'm sure she put beef in my burrito. I cook with Beyond Meat all the time and it has a specific flavour and texture....

We ordered a Pork Carnitas Taco Salad, chips and guacamole, kids bean and cheese burrito, two Jarritos and an order of churros with Carmel sauce.

Pork Carnitas Taco Salad - basic flavor, lots of a meat, no beans, soggy wet lettuce that looked like it was frozen and thawed out. The taco shell was alright, didn’t have too much crunch on it except for the tips. Guessing it was baked and not fried which is better but less flavor.

Chips and guacamole - fine, nothing stood out

Kids bean and cheese burrito - smallest burrito award. Only 3 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. If that. Gave us lots of chips though. Should specify how small it is when selling as it would feed a kid 2-4 years old. Bigger kids need a bigger burrito.

Two Jarritos - delicious as always, though that wasn’t made by them.

Churros with Carmel sauce - cold, my guess frozen then thawed out and not freshly made. If it was fresh, they would have still been hot or a little oily.

Most likely will not go back, though I would like to try their fish tacos from what the reviews mention. Maybe in person instead to see how...

Shrinkflation! Haven't been here in quite a while but came here with my son today and what a disappointment! Extremely small portions for almost $30 (taco salad, burrito bowl, drink and small brownie). You know it's bad when they don't even put a burrito bowl in a bowl anymore and use a plate instead (my taco salad was also on a plate when it also used to come in a bowl). If you combined my son's burrito bowl and my taco salad into one, it might be somewhat close to a full meal. Pretty bad when after almost $30 later, I'm still hungry and feel like I need to stop and grab a burger on the way home....
