The place was empty when I arrived. Never a good sign if no one is eating there. I ordered the samosa which was made fresh and was delicious. The server didn't ask me for a drink and when I waved her over she made me wait as she was on what looked like a personal call. My food took a long time even though I was the only guest in the restaurant. After taking a few bites of my curry chicken, I bit into a small rock in my dish. After a long while of.not seeing the server I finally managed to wave her for help. She argued that it was probably a fennel seed and didn't believe me although I was 100% sure. She then took the small rock to confirm with someone (not sure if it was chef owner or both) and confirmed it was in fact a small rock. There was no sincere apology or offer to remake my dish. I had to ask for a new dish and then wait a very long time after a couple other tables were now seated and getting their meals before I got my newly made chicken to go as I was over my lunch hour. I was then dissapointed that the dish wasn't comped as many restaurants would if something pretty serious like that happened to a customer. As good as the food was, I wouldn't recommend this place. I'll be calling for an inspection of...
Read moreTonight, I ordered Daal makhani with Naan for two people. I was feeling sick, so I was unable to cook anything. I decided to order from Mild Chilli. They put too much salt in the Daal Makhani. I thought I was not well, so I felt too much salt was in it. But my friend also tasted too much salt in the dish. Moreover, the dish was overcooked. This is the third time I have faced this issue with this restaurant.
I went there with my friend before. They gave us food after 35 minutes. We spent almost $50$ that day because we ordered an appetizer, main course, and dessert at the starting time as they asked for it. But we got a small piece of wood inside the Samosa. They gave us stale onions in the main course, which looked like they had already served them to a previous customer.
We ordered Channa Bhatura the other day; it did not taste good. It looks like they cook it in the morning and serve it in the evening.
I gave them three chances because I thought it would happen sometime, but it was happening after every second time.
I won't waste any more money by going there and ordering...
Read moreI don't eat out a lot in my local area, as I enjoy cooking quite a bit. A co-worker recommended this restaurant to me two years ago, and I've been a few times and ordered take out once or twice.
I don't want to provide a 10,000 word essay like every recipe you find on the internet these days but I wanted to provide a little background before I explain the 5 stars.
I'm pretty decent at making different Indian and South Asian curries, and I've been lucky enough to get cooking tips to improve my very Western notion of curries from people who grew up in these areas. I've been to Vij's in Vancouver and eaten at other Indian restaurants while traveling and usually had good experiences.
But everytime I go to Mild Chili I'm blown away by the flavors and consistencies of the dishes. I sit there reveling in delicious glory, usually overeating, and as the meal comes to an end I realize that once again I am ruined for my home cooked versions of this genre until my nose and tongue finally forget what happened that meal.
Tasty...
