We visited Buvette Scott earlier today and we were absolutely floored by the amazing service and food!
The oysters were absolutely delicious. They were paired with horseradish, lemon and a house-made apple cider vinegar. Absolutely amazing and we ended up ordering a second round later.
The artic char was stunning, flaking and coated with a sauce Maltese. We enjoyed this dish, and were honestly surprised how well it was prepared. The celery and leeks that were served with it were finely cooked and didn't overpower the fish at all.
The roasted beets with radicchio, cheese and fried wild rice was an amazing palette cleanser. The four ingredients came together very well and it was so interesting having the different flavours mix and work together.
The last dish we had was the chicken breast served with morels and green peas. Absolutely stunning, the chicken was juicy and sweet, with the morels adding a nice touch of savoury to it.
The strawberry sorbet that we got was delightful refreshing and not overpoweringly sweet. We liked it a lot, and enjoyed the light finish it offered.
We were also served by the owner, who was an extremely charismatic and knowledge guy. He honestly made our experience so much better, providing recommendations for a white wine pairing and providing in depth descriptions of each dish, absolutely delving into the details of the ingredients and looking excited to discuss the flavours and comments of the dishes.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting Buvette Scott, as we certainly will...
Read moreThis was a hidden gem. A small establishment hidden away on the side of a building, can be easily missed. The interior is simple with almost an upscale feel (not an interior designer). The staff are kind, very knowledgeable and very descriptive. We literally translated everything while we waited for the bar. The bar is nice, you get to see a glimpse of the magic in the kitchen. The food selection is quality, oysters at a very good price, a variety of excellent food. Duck ham (canard jambon) was delicious and the mustard pairing was excellent. My wife loved the guinea fowl pate (parfait), she said it was probably the best pate she has ever had, spread with the toast it was amazing. I don't recall the French translation but it was like mini croquettes with caviar and fennel with a crab bisque, my goodness it was so divine. (Potatoes are always underrated) This dish was by far one of the best potato dishes I have had. I can't recall our last dish, I believe it was some kind of spinach pasta with almonds/hazelnuts, out of what we got it wasn't our favourite but it was still tasty and very different from what we have eaten. There was a lot of crunch in every bite, it is a nut heavy dish but I would still ask for seconds if I could. Buvette was amazing, our first dinner in QC city and we were amazed by the offerings. We can't...
Read moreSadly, Buvette Scott was a miss for us. We came in for an 8:30 dinner and ordered the swordfish, lobster, gnudi, and morel mushroom/duck egg dish. While our server was WONDERFUL and served/explained all our dishes in detail and provided us with excellent wine, many of the dishes fell short in our opinion for the price compared to some of the other places we ate at while in town. The swordfish was served very rare, which I have always been taught is a "no no" while working in fine dining for over a decade (I have been out of the service industry for 15 years, so I do realize things change, but the dish took me off guard). I enjoyed the swordfish, my husband did not.The mushroom/duck egg dish was wonderful, no complaints there. The lobster dish was a MAJOR letdown; it was 3 potatoes covered in buerre blanc sauce with 4 TINY pieces of cold lobster on top. It should be sold as a potato dish, NOT a lobster dish. The cold lobster was odd with the hot potatoes and sauce. The gnudi had a wonderful texture and the pasta part was a showstopper, BUT the sauce tasted just like chef boyardee. It took me back to my childhood, but not in a good way! Overall, I just don't understand the rave reviews for the food here. Maybe we just hit an off night/week, but I would tell a visitor to Quebec City to go elsewhere if they only have...
