Had a very terrible experience here. We walked around and bought $60 worth of groceries, including prepared food items for our lunch. After we paid at the register, which is in the front room, we sat down at their little tables in the adjacent room to eat. Just as we were finishing, a man who works there came up and demanded to see our receipt. He said that another employee questioned whether we had paid. Since there multiple rooms in this old fashioned store, it seemed odd, but my husband searched the grocery bag (their bag, which they gave us when we paid, ahem), and couldn't find the receipt. Instead of saying "sorry to bother you, sir", he then continued to doubt us (oh, and did I say we were with our twelve year old daughter?!). So my husband walked with him to find the cashier he had paid. When the cashier acknowledged we had paid, the man from the store did not apologize. He instead said to my husband "you should keep your receipt." So, much as I would like to recommend this place, I cannot. I have never been treated as...

A Québec City must-visit, especially for the foodies and history lovers out there. Huge selection of products that reflect the local terroir. From cured meats, to cheeses, to pâtés, to fresh produce, and everything in between, J.A. Moisan is a foodie paradise. Staying in Québec City for work, I came by a few times to grab some snacks for a picnic, or mini DIY charcuterie tray for my room. Fresh crusty bread baked just across the street is on offer. There's a great selection of local Québec beers, ciders and wines to pair with your selection, or to take back home with you (along with many local spices and preserves; also great souvenirs).

The store also stocks a range of French items, like Petit Marseillaise bath products, nougat from Provence, and much more. Charming place to visit in...

When I worked there and whenever I go to Quebec City, this was my first place to go to. The ambience by itself and the selection is unparalleled anywhere else in Canada. However, on my last visit i had to stop short of buying all the items I wanted to bring back because of the very arrogant and unfriendly male behind the deli counter. Not speaking French, he treated me like some inferior being and I just stopped and paid for the few items I had at that time. The lady at the till was making up for it in friendliness, (she told me she was from France) Still, I did not get the items or experience I was looking for and will try to find a farmers market where they are hopefully...

A foodies' dream. There are foods in here that I'd never heard of before and for anyone who likes cooking and experimenting with food, the ideas for unusual but authentic foods are great. 4 stars due to it being expensive and I found another store that was bigger and cheaper with more options, but in the centre of a city, it was unusual to find one like this. To be fair to them also, even the overpriced things in there for local food was still cheaper than the tourist targeting shops.

Ah! So very cool here! What a nice grocery/snack store this is! My friend took me here when I was visiting so he can show me. It’s apparently the oldest in the city. It’s kind of small and narrow but it has excellent products and the wine section in the very back is amazing! Just be aware that you can’t buy a beer and crack it open when if you decide to have a bite to eat there at one of their tables. They’re not licensed. I nearly did it 😂 I recommend paying a visit here. 👍😎

Coming back after a two-year absence (COVID!) we were surprised to find that half of the store had been separated and converted to a clothing retailer. Sadly this venerable location can no longer be called a grocery store and is now more of a deli. Dine-in is still an option for their prepared food. Economics can't be ignored, I suppose, but we used to shop here on every trip to Quebec and probably won't shop here again. A real loss.
