Charbon Steakhouse — Restaurant in Quebec

I’m usually not a tough critic, but I want to explain my rating. While visiting Quebec City, we were looking for a great steak restaurant where price wasn’t a concern. The one we were originally recommended was fully booked, so after some research, we found this one.

At first glance, everything seemed fine—the decor and atmosphere were nice. However, when we arrived, there was an issue with our reservation. Instead of a table for four, we were given a booth meant for two, which left us squeezed in and uncomfortable, with barely any elbow room.

Service was another major issue. We waited over 20 minutes before a waiter even acknowledged us. During that time, we had no water, no drink orders, and no bread—while he seemed completely focused on other tables. When he finally arrived, we politely mentioned the delay, but he didn’t seem particularly concerned or apologetic.

We ordered two of their 20oz rib steaks, requesting medium rare. Unfortunately, they arrived blue (nearly raw). The waiter acknowledged the mistake, and we had to send them back while the other two people at our table ate their meals. By the time our steaks were properly cooked, the dining experience had already been soured.

To top it off, being so cramped led to an unfortunate spill—our glass of wine ended up on us. After nearly 90 minutes, feeling frustrated and uncomfortable, we simply paid the bill and left without even considering dessert. Given the price we paid, the experience was incredibly disappointing.

I don’t mind paying for quality, but between the poor service, uncomfortable seating, and improperly cooked food, this restaurant simply did not live up to...

We always had a great experience at this restaurant. It si our favorite Quebec city restaurant. Every time we go to Quebec city, this si where we have dinner and we recommend it to everyone. Sadly, Tonight was horribly deceiving. We were seated in a table right next to the discharge station where the waiters clean the plates. We asked to be moved, we were told there is no other available table and all the tables are reserved and that we can sit outside if we wish. We were there for 2 hours and literally only 1 couple was seated on the 6 empty tables next to us. When the food arrived, all the sides were dry in all of our plates, as if the plates were pre-filed with the sides and heated and when the meal was ordered they cooked the meats and put them and serve. The celery paste and the sauces had a crust on the surface.. sign of excessive pre-heating. And for some reason, there was no room for discussion or opening for understanding tonight. It's just too bad because this was our favourite restaurant in Quebec city. We are very very deceived by the experience. I hope this gets fixed to not lose more clients. You are known for your delicious food, please don't...

Ceux qui n'ont pas aimer je vous conseillerais d'y retourner au moins une fois... parfois il y a de nouveaux serveurs(euses) et nous avons tous commencer à quelques part avant de juger un service mettez leur souliers vous verrez qu'être services aux tables n'est pas toujours facile surtout lorsque tous veulent être servie en même temps à plusieurs tables donc des erreurs arrive ce sont des humains comme tout le monde...moi même à notre table une des viandes était pas comme demandé simple vous appeler la serveuse discrètement vous lui en faite part et elle y veillera...

moi personnellement j'ai adorer cette endroit tout était parfait... c'est sur que si vous donner 5$ de pourboires attendez vous à un service moins exceptionnel... parfois aussi le cuisinier change donc ne juger pas un si bon restaurant avant d'y retourner...une fois n'est pas coutume et la prochaine fois pourrais être bien apprécié...

ne jugez pas ce restaurant non plus comme étant médiocre quand il ne l'est pas du tout , l'ambiance très réservée avec une touche romanestre et ce malgré que l'endroit est achalandé... l'ambiance et le décor vaut aussi le détour...

Ceux et celles qui ne vont pas souper , car des gens donnent des avis négatifs ratent une belle occasion de bien manger et de découvrir ce restaurant qui dégage presque une ambiance magique ...

Je vous dirai ne rater pas l'occasion d'y aller et par vous même découvrir que vous avez fait un excellent choix...

À tous les amateurs de viande vous aurez le top qualité niveau morceau,vous aurez une présentation pour choisir votre morceau ...vous aurez un choix aussi de grosseurs, vous choisissez votre cuisson, un détour qui vaut la peine garantie...

Pour ma part je suis très difficile, j'ai une gueule très fine je ne mange vraiment pas n'importe quoi....

Je vous recommande fortement cet endroit pour vos soirées romantique,vos fêtes, grande occasions, ect ... les prix sont bien pour l'endroit...😊 Surtout très chaleureux...

P.s ceux et celles qui ne donnent aucun pourboire ne réalisent pas ce que c'est et sont affreux car cette dame payera 15% au impôt pour vous avoir servi ce n'est pas correcte à la place donner le minimum les patrons observe ainsi les bons et mauvais services et y veilleront...

Ceux qui attendent que le serveur leur versent le vin chaque fois....allez dans un restaurant où le serveur est seulement attitré à votre table et devient votre esclave....vous avez des mains et des bras servez-vous donc d'eux... vous n'êtes pas seuls dans le restaurant il est serveur pas...
