VEGETARIANS / VEGANS BEWARE!

Ordered vegan chicken, got REAL chicken instead, very not satisfied, no one said sorry or took care of us, we just left..

Wrote a bad review on Facebook: Owner contacted me to say he was disappointed by my review and that he didnt have time to come see us before we left. Says that I was mean for leaving that review and that everyone can make mistakes, he adds that they will work on something to avoid that kind of situations, but didnt explain anything about what they actually plan on doing.

A day after writing this review on Google the owner contacted me again to ask if I was serious.....!

Chez Tao replied to this post and here are the REAL facts.

I did order vegan chicken and got real chicken instead. As they clearly stated. My boyfriend tasted it and noticed it was real chicken. We told the server, she insisted that it wasnt real chicken. We had to argue about it until she realized it WAS real chicken. She didnt appologized at all, she said she would replace it and she tried not to laugh as this was a joke, she didnt mention anything about rushing the kitchen to replace our meals at all. My boyfriend had enough, he went outside trying to calm himself. The tought of having to wait longer as weve already waited for approximately 45min cause like they said it was rush hour and not knowing if they would serve us real chicken or not or what they would do to our food, who knows? Plus, we kind of lost our appetite to be honest.

I did share my experience on social media to tell people to be careful and give an honest review about what happened at the restaurant.

It is also stated that this never happened again, but this happened before, I know Im not the only one cause other people commented on the post saying it happened to them too. Maybe they just didnt say anything or just didnt post it to warn people about it.

I dont regret posting about it cause today its the reason why they changed their way of doing things to avoid this situation.

And when they say one of the co-owner asked us questions, this is just plain lies. He overheard me telling the server politely that we were leaving and he came closer to hear better, he asked the server (not us) about what happened, then he left and didnt say or do anything.

Helping the vegetarian/vegan community is also telling then when something is wrong. That day, this situation was wrong and I didnt want it to happen to any other...

C’est Magnifique!!!! We were in town visiting and were able to walk in on a Monday night around 8pm and get seats at the bar. They don’t take reservations, so if you want to come here, plan accordingly! We were recommended this place by a local who we spoke to.

This was our best meal while visiting QC. In an unassuming spot, you’ll find amazing cocktails, great music, and incredible bites all under one roof. Not to mention, the service was great. Special shout out to Thomas who helped us!

This is a rum-forward cocktail bar with an extensive menu. We had 3 cocktails altogether - the Meowth, Farang #2, and Hotel Corail. All were great with the bartenders paying special attention to all details, but the first two were our favorite.

For food, we ordered Nems, fried chicken, pork bao buns, and the Khao soi curry. Everything was bursting with flavor. We could not pick our favorite and would order everything all over.

The fried chicken is what they are known for and understandably so. It is a very generous portion and the chicken is so crispy delicious. It is slightly spicy, but not so much that any of the other spices are compromised. They have a special on Monday nights - unlimited fried chicken starting at 8:30 pm for $20. Would definitely come back for this.

Ngl - I judged the bao buns based on what I’ve had previously and I seriously misjudged. While I’ve had buns before that are chewier, these were flaky and soaked in the sauces so so well. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

The curry was so cozy and comforting. It was possibly the best I’ve ever had. It was so hard to stop eating it, despite being full already. It was absolutely perfect.

We loved Chez Tao and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you for an...

Very happy that we stumbled across this place. Chez Tao is a hard working, well-functioning restaurant. Drinks and dishes were executed perfectly and came out with speed. The drinks were tasty and nuanced, the food flavours were all on point. We ate and drank more than usual, mainly because it was worth it!

A definite strength of this place was the service - Our host, Rosemary was as efficient and thoughtful as she was cool. It’s always nice to see proficiency at work - she made the evening memorable for my fiancé and I.

Vibe is a little dark and cozy, balanced with a loud and legit 90s to 2000’s playlist - (think A-trak, Bloodhound Gang to Eifel 65, Cranberries + all the hip hop you know the words to). This was appreciated, especially at the volume to which it was played at.

Chez Tao (& Rosemary!) our experience is one that should be shared in detail for the entire internet to see. Thank you for being an example of when doing it right totally makes the evening for two people. We appreciate it. We will be back and telling our friends that this is a must-visit spot in...

What a hidden gem! Being from New York, we had no expectation of other cuisine than French. However, this Asian cuisine bar has so many different cocktails and great foods. Every cocktails has their own glassware which was super cool! It was our most memorable experience during Quebec trip because of their hospitality. Entire staffs were very kind and welcomed us especially Kevin, the bartender was very knowledgeable and loves what he does. He totally made our night super special. Surprisingly their foods were really good and authentic that we ended up ordered 2 more dishes lol. They open pretty late compared to other restaurants so if you are looking for a great drinks or craving some delicious foods, give it a try (You won’t regret it) I highly recommend this place!

It was quite late at night at around 23h00 when we craved some Asian food as we were walking around the Château, pulled Google, and found Chez Tao! that's fortunately closing at 01h00. There was construction going on during our visit, so the travel to reach the establishment was frustratingly exhausting, but as soon as we had sat down (parking was quite tricky) and our server (I'm sorry I didn't catch your name) took our order of Vegan Pad Thai and a Yuzu cocktail (I think it was!?), everything else didn't matter because the food and drink were ★★★★★! We had only ordered one for two people to share, and it was more than enough! We were left full and satisfied. We'll definitely visit again!
