Mansour — Restaurant in Quebec

We ordered gyro shawarma and chicken shawarma plate. It was upsetting to see the amount of chicken that was given. Additionally, the rice that was served was raw.

Being from Toronto and have lived in the Middle East I do know how shawarmas should taste and what are acceptable North American / Canadian standards and tastes.

This restaurant was below par. We did approach the guy for the quantity of chicken that we were served. He was nice enough to provide us with some more chicken however the guy couldn’t understand much of English so I did not approach him for the rice. His attitude with the quantity of chicken was “I just work here.” Which did not motivate me to approach him for the raw rice.

I do not recommend this restaurant for your halal meal. You are better off with a cheese pizza.

We called and asked if the meat was halal, the lady kept repeating that it’s halal-

We just wanted to know if it’s hand slaughter or machine slaughter and she just got frustrated and hung up. Didn’t want to share info about the certificate or who is their supplier. So frustrating- makes you question if it really is halal

Someone at your business hung up the phone on a potential customer. She could have just said I am sorry I don’t know the answer to your question.

I and many other muslims only eat zabiha by hand halal not zabiha by machine. You should know the answer to that...

Rares sont les moments qui m’obligent à donner un avis négatif, particulièrement pour un shish-taouk (habituellement un de mes repas de prédilection).

Je me présente au restaurant. Jusqu’à là, tout va rondement. Nous commandons. Moi et ma femme sommes heureux de manger à l’extérieur. L’odeur du restaurant rend l’expérience alléchante.

Le service n’était pas optimal, mais bon, c’est du take-out, je ne m’attendais pas à grand chose de la part du cuisinier. De plus, l’ambiance du restaurant laisse à désirer. C’est plutôt vide. Une table et quelques étagères avec des produits alimentaires. Je n’avais pas l’intention de manger à l’intérieur, donc ce n’était pas dans les priorités de toute façon.

Toutefois, le poulet du shish-taouk était blanc, peu gouteux et, ma foi, très sec. C’était déplaisant en bouche. Les frites étaient ordinaires. Les baklavas étaient également secs et friables, rien à voir avec les baklavas que j’ai mangé dans le passé. Je dois avouer que la sauce à l’ail était bonne, en revanche.

Le prix… parlons du prix. En ne mangeant pas à la maison, je m’attends donc à payer un certain prix. Je ne suis pas avare de nature, mais je n’aime pas payer pour quelque chose qui n’en vaut pas la peine. Malheureusement, la facture s’est élevée à près de 45$ pour deux shisk taouk (un en trio et l’autre accompagné d’un baklava). J’aurais été ravi de payer ce prix si la nourriture avait été appétissante. Somme toute, j’ai été déçu de la fraîcheur et de la qualité des aliments qui m’ont été servis. Je ne crois pas y remettre les pieds et je ne recommanderai pas non plus...
