SESAME - QUÉBEC — Restaurant in Quebec

The food was the better part of the visit, the experience was pretty terrible from the moment we sat down until we left.

We were seated by the hostess and asked for a drink menu, then we were promptly forgotten about for about 15mins. Finally a server noticed and brought one over.

We ordered our drinks, appetizer (pork dumplings), and mains. Server came back and made me change my order because they were out of what I wanted. Drinks took another 15mins to arrive, then our main dishes came out before we were given our dumplings. About 10 minutes later the dumplings arrived and were plopped down on the table despite the fact that we were clearly half way through our meals. The dumplings tasted bland and we only ate two of them.

Server arrived and was clearly confused when she checked on us but we were understanding, having both been servers in the past. She explained the issue and offered us free dessert for the mix up. My husband ordered his, then in the middle of my dessert order the server interrupted me with a comment to my husband and walked away, returning with only his dessert and the full bill.

It was a terrible way to spend our four-year anniversary celebration and an equally disappointing place to conclude our romantic weekend and first time in Quebec City.

Not recommended for those hoping to enjoy...

Me and my family were not happy with our experience at all. The atmosphere was okay but the red lighting they have made it hard to enjoy the food, everything looked the same because of the harsh red lighting. Also, the food felt like something I would get in a cafeteria style food court and the price was high for the food we got. It tasted okay but wasn't anything special. We would not go back again and we were really disappointed with this restaurant. It had good reviews and we decided to try it but we were extremely disappointed!! Waste of money to be honest which is sad cuz the food pictures on the other reviews looked good but didn't live up to it at all. Wouldn't recommend it unfortunately.

Btw, they only had one girl tending to all the tables so she wasn't very attentive to us. Over all a bad experience for me...

QUELQUES PROBLÈMES C'était notre première visite au Sésame Lebourgneuf. J'ai choisi 2 rouleaux impériaux, le riz sauté et un verre de bière. Ma copine a demandé la même chose que moi, sans les oeufs (elle est végane) J'ai demandé la protéine poulet et ma copine le tofu. Mais la serveuse nous dit que la protéine n'est pas incluse dans le prix de $9.00, mais qu'elle coûte $7.00 de plus !!!!!!!

Dans le menu c'était écrit: .........(Tel quel) RIZ SAUTÉ Légumes sautés, œuf, sauce soja noire, furikake 9 Ajouter une protéine supplémentaire de votre choix

Le 9, au bout à droite, désignant le prix $9.00 du plat de riz sauté. Ma copine et moi avons compris que la protéine supplémentaire était comprise dans les $9.00, sinon on aurait indiqué le prix de la protéine supplémentaire au menu ! Cette protéine supplémentaire coûtait $7.00 de plus, nous dit la serveuse !!!!!!! Comme c'était excessif, nous n’avons pas pris la protéine supplémentaire. Normalement, dans un menu de restaurant on nous indique toujours le coût du supplément au plat. Mais sur le menu du Sésame ce n'était pas écrit. Je trouve que cela inacceptable !

Rendu au service, la serveuse nous apporte les plat de riz, mais pas les rouleaux de printemps. Après une trop longue attente, nous l'attrapons au passage et lui soulignons qu'elle a oublié nos rouleaux de printemps. La serveuse s'empresse de nous les apporter, mais après son départ, nous constatons que mon amie n'a qu'un rouleau au lieu de 2, comme nous l'avons commandé. Ouf !!!! Nous attendons encore de la revoir, et lui disons qu'elle a oublié un rouleau. Après tous ces déboires, la serveuse nous dit qu'elle va nous charger qu'un seul rouleau (pour se faire excuser).

Le riz sauté était excellent (savoureux à souhait), ainsi que les rouleaux impériaux. * Je n'ai jamais mangé de riz sauté aussi bon que celui-ci !

Mais pour le service, et le menu ambigu, nous ne sommes pas tentées de revenir au Restaurant le Sésame,...
