CoCo Bubble Tea (New West) — Restaurant in Queens Park

Our family is always excited for new businesses to open in uptown. Coco was no different. Upon opening we set out to show our support. I really really wanted to like this place however they are not really vegan or substitution friendly. My husband and I went in two separate times and were told that the creamer they use is in fact VEGAN! However, on further inspection of the ingredients right on the bag we came to learn that the creamer contains whey. What they meant to say was the creamer is lactose free. Still we reluctantly returned because our child wanted to experience the new business. Again we were told that the creamer is vegan and we insisted it isn’t and they continued on that it absolutely is. After trying to order a drink omitting the creamer for my daughter we learnt that it just wasn’t possible to make changes. So we switch to a few peach specials again to be told we can’t add pearls to the drinks selected. For me, that’s kind of the point of going to a place like this. I’m disappointed in the drinks we had as a result but also the misinformation the staff was spreading. I’m writing this so that someone with a true dairy allergy doesn’t fall sick from the creamer. Staff should be educated on the difference between vegan and vegetarian and other dietary restrictions as they are working in a industry that warrants it. This place is a total disaster. The staff looked like they didn’t even want to be there no greeting, no smile, just pure attitude. I ordered a brown sugar milk tea and waited 25 minutes even though there were only two people in line. When I finally got my drink, it tasted like sugary water with old milk. The pearls were hard like rocks. The whole shop smelled weird, the floor was sticky, and the tables hadn’t been cleaned in hours. The workers were laughing behind the counter instead of helping customers. Music was too loud, and the whole place felt messy and unprofessional. I wouldn’t come back here even if they paid me. Worst bubble tea I’ve ever had in my life. Save your money and go literally...

Absolutely ridiculous. I picked up 7 drinks around 9:30 PM, all ordered with 30% sugar—got home and found they gave everything at 50%, which was way too sweet. I called right away—no one answered. Called again this morning, and the guy who picked up was rude, unhelpful, and couldn’t care less.

I told him the drinks were still sealed, and he straight up said, “We can’t do anything,” and that they don’t have a manager or owner. Seriously? No one in charge? That’s probably why they mess up orders and act like it’s the customer’s problem.
