On New Years Eve at our get together we called our usual Chinese food restraunt to order at 5:15pm. They said they are not taking any more orders currently and we could try back in a couple hours but no guarantee on being able to order even then.
I did a google map search for Chinese Restaurant. It shows the star ratings under the names of each place. We debated about a few but didn’t like how greasy they are.
Came across Canton Kitchen and it had a 4.0 ⭐️. Which is about average for the decent restaurants. My usual is 4.2⭐️. I had eaten at Canton a few times about 20yrs ago when I worked nearby. It was good as far as I can remember. Cafe atmosphere. Upon calling they said it would take roughly 2 hours to get it delivered. Just grateful they were willing to do that so we ordered.
They have an excellent diner for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc… options. They have basic included items then you choose a certain number of items from a large list of options.
We had dinner for 4 (for party of 3) ordering 3 items from the large list of options. On top of the automatically included base items; spring rolls (option of egg rolls or fried wontons also), chicken fried rice (lots of flavor and no grease and sweet and sour chicken balls (look homemade with a large piece of chicken in each). We got ginger beef (very slight heat and tender with some fresh onions), chicken chow main (had lots of bean sprouts and veggies and could order this as a meal on its own.) and beef broccoli (perfect ratio of tender beef and bright crunchy broccoli.m).
I got to say the food was absolutely amazing! All of us absolutely loved it. Completely not greasy, veggies still had a little crunch, large portions (enough for 3 full meals after eating our supper), flavorful and still so hot upon delivery despite being a 15 minute drive to my home and -18°.
It took about 2:20 to get the food. Just 20 minutes over the estimate. The kind lady was very grateful for the $40 tip. We tipped large as it was New Years Eve. Canton Kitchen is our new go to for...
Read moreThe food has changed at Canton kitchen since new owners took over and not for the better. We weren't happy when we ordered over Christmas 2024, but thought we'd give them another try since its been our go to place for 20 years. Unfortunately, will never order from here again. It was way worse than last time. The ginger beef had a yellow coating on it which was weird looking and chewy. The sweet and sour pork was too chewy to eat. The chicken fried rice was just white rice and scrambled egg and tiny bits of chicken with no flavour at all. It just tasted like white rice. The broccoli was mushy and the lemon chicken was really dark brown from being over cooked in the frier. I wish there was a zero star option. Friendly delivery guy though, he gets 5 stars. We let the restaurant know that it wasn't satisfactory and the manager said maybe it's just...
Read moreWe have ordered from here for a very long time our go to spot. Last time food was not great but was ok to eat . But this time was bad . For the 80.00 not good. Dry ribs very over cooked . Hard as a rock . Chicken balls where over cooked. Very hard and dark. Sauce for them tasted old and was off colored. Spring rolls over cooked as well. Had waited for about 50 mins for food . No biggie there. But had very hungry kids to feed. So got them set up with the rice and a couple of chicken balls that were not over cooked. Then called . Was told that if there was anything taken then there was nothing they could do. And I had to give all the food that was bad back . Ok. So I got the rib replaced tooked a hour to get . And still not great .I am very sad to say this is the last time we will be getting food there. And will...
