Original Joe's — Restaurant in Red Deer

My husband and I went out for a dinner and movie date night and decided to give Original Joe's a shot. We usually opt for State & Main but wanted to change things up a bit. When we arrived we were greeted and told to pick a seat anywhere. Once seated we waited for about fifteen minutes until a server acknowledged us - she asked if we had been helped, when we told her we hadn't she said she would track down our server as this wasn't her section. While waiting I ran to the washroom to wash my hands and the soap dispenser was completely empty. Our server showed up a few minutes later. I asked her what was on tap for local craft beer options and she said she wasn't sure - she had to go ask the bartender. When she came back she said that everything on tap was craft beer except for the Budweiser. Discouraged, I decided to just order a water. My husband and I placed our food order with the server. We waited for half an hour before our appetizer arrived, brought to us by another server. She asked if we needed anything and my husband mentioned that we were still waiting for our waters. This server brought those to us shortly. Our appetizer (chicken gyoza) wasn't very warm and may have been sitting out for awhile before being served to us. About halfway through eating our appetizer our mains were served to us. We both ordered breaded chicken burgers and the breading was very dark, the chicken seemed overcooked and dry. We did not enjoy our meals. We ate quickly and my husband tried to get the original waitress' attention so that we could pay and head to our movie. By the time our waitress brought the bill and we had paid we were too late for the movie. Few weeks back my wife and two small girls went to this location. I personally LOVE the Kona burger, at least I do in Vancouver where we lived before moving here this year. Can't comment on the food at this location, we walked out before ever ordering sigh. Anyway, we arrived and were greeted and told we could sit up on the upper floor. We picked a booth settled in.... and waited... and waited some more... Finally I got up and asked a server... Just if they had a high chair for our 1 yr/old. They said no. That pretty much made our decision to finally leave after nearly 30mins and not even being brought water, asking if we needed anything or even mentioning they don't have high chairs or boosters or anything.

You can't tell me this place doesn't cater to families. All the OJs I've been to in BC all had high chairs, get with it guys! Really don't know what's worse, not being serviced or not having something for a baby to sit in :(. We were very uncomfortable with the entire experience. It wasn't even busy when we arrived. Came for an early dinner like 4pm.

My wife loves OJs too but said to me she doesn't want to come back here again for a very long time if ever and I agree, your location has some work to do.

If there is a negative star, i would give this place that. I have never been this dissapointed before.

We are passing thru red deer and decide to look for a place to eat (couple with a baby). Saw this come up on google and decided to call to make a reservation. After several tries and getting voicemail, i decide to reserve thru open table in which i requested a high chair for the baby.

We arrive around 5 mins after our reservation time and had a hard time looking for parking, spent the next 10 mins looking for one and ended up paying for paking in a nearby lot.

Once we get to the place, at this point we are so hungry and baby is almost crying, the poeple there tell me no minors allowed! I told them i made a request for a highchair so why didnt anyone call me to let me know, so we could have found somewhere else. And all they said was they were busy! Wow! Didn't even bother to check reservations!!! Not even a sincere apology!

What made it worst was the fact that they didnt even think they made a mistake and didnt even give a sincere apology!

Because of this we wasted money on parking.. had to look for another place while we were so hungry.. and the baby kept crying because she was hungry and we had no...
