Very good food! Service was sub-par though, it wasn't the server's fault, he was great but I think just had too many tables, he was running around a lot. It didn't help either that the table beside us knew everyone working there and got the most excellent service I've ever seen. We asked for a couple more minutes to look through the drink menu and that turned into 10 or 15 minutes, I actually even suggested we leave because we hadn't had anything yet but then the server did come, we had warm dinner rolls which were great but we were only offered one each, I guess I could have asked for more. We tried the frog legs (on my husband's bucket list) and they were ok, I felt weird eating them so I didn't have much haha but it's worth trying if you go. We only had one drink each and we would've ordered more if the server would've asked us earlier if we had wanted another but he waited until we were pretty much done our meals so we both said no. And if you do go expect to be there for over an hour, we were there for one hour 20 minutes about and most of that was spent waiting for service. I appreciated someone coming around and asking us how our meal was, I'm not sure who it was but it was nice. The food was very good, I had the moussaka and it had a bit too much cinnamon but still good. Very intimate settings. I read a review on Tripadvisor (we chose to try it due to the ratings on Tripadvisor) that said you can have something similar for cheaper elsewhere and I agree. It was our first time here and I don't think we will be going back, I'd rather go to the diplomat or try somewhere else if I'm going to be having an...
Read moreOverall, the restaurant has a great taste, and I highly recommend the Wellington steak ($60). For $180, being able to drink a 2015 vintage Pol Roger at the restaurant is very cost-effective in my opinion. It’s something I definitely cannot find in Ontario.
Our waiter was very warm, talkative, and took great care of us.
The only thing that was a bit disappointing was our table; it was too small. I noticed there were many available seats in the restaurant, and even after we finished eating, it was still quite empty, but we were still assigned to a very small table. Other couples had relatively larger tables.
Another issue was with the wine service. Our waiter did not follow the standard procedure of allowing us to taste the first sip. I understand his point that as long as there’s fizz in the champagne, you can’t really taste much. Indeed, there is no specific requirement to taste whether a non-aged champagne is spoiled. However, I would have preferred the standard wine serving process because it was a vintage champagne, and it should be respected.
There was also an instance where our waiter brought a bucket for the champagne but didn’t put ice in it until we reminded him. He mentioned that adding ice wouldn’t make much difference. Indeed, with a small ice bucket, it might not matter much, but a larger ice bucket with the champagne submerged in ice would keep it at a lower temperature, making it more convenient to drink at a consistent temperature.
In this province, there aren’t many champagne options available, so seeing a wide selection of champagnes here made...
Read moreMy sister lives in Regina, so we went to visit for her 70th birthday. They had never dined there before but we wanted to try it. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere and service were excellent. We had a very intimate booth with walls behind and open at each end. The menus is very extensive, not only Greek, but steaks etc. They also had a fixed 4 course menu which we all chose. The appetizers were a choice of beef wellington pockets or shrimp on a crustini. My sister and I had the shrimp and the men had the wellington. We shared and loved both choices. Then came a gorgeous watermelon, feta, cucumber, and pine nut salad with balsamic vinegar. Delicious and refreshing. There were 3 choices for the main, pork tenderloin medallions with mushroom peppercorn sauce, local trout, or a sirloin steak with a shrimp skewer. My sister and my husband had the steak, BIL had the Trout and I had the pork tenderloin. All 3 were done to perfection. There were absolutely no complaints about any of the mains! Good sized portions, noone was left hungry. Dessert was a heavenly creamy Greek tart with shredded Phillo bottom, custard center and whipped cream topping. Sooo good. All this for $65 a person. So delicious, so affordable! The owner came over later with a small bottle of champagne with my sisters name and Happy Birthday written on it. An evening we will never forget. Thankyou Memories for the...
