Ordered from them through Skip The Dishes. Order didn't get confirmed for 20 minutes, until I noticed and called the restaurant to ask if they got the order. The lady said she would check and said 'oh it just went through', clearly meaning that they were not checking their system for orders as it took them 20 minutes to confirm they received it. Fine.
Another 30 minutes pass and I still haven't gotten my food, let alone seen any updates on it's status on the Skip the Dishes website tracker. So I call again and ask where my food is/what the status of the delivery is. They tell me they're having a problem with the Skip the Dishes system and that it's coming from the app's side, not theirs. So I call Skip the Dishes, and what ensures is a series of back and fourth blaming - "it's the restaurant" "its the app" - well if it's neither of them then where is my damn food?
I'm finally updated by a Skip the Dishes rep over the phone that my meal will take ANOTHER 40 MINUTES TO GET TO ME because that's when a driver will be available. Why even put the order through if you have no drivers available? And make a customer wait 1.5 hours to get their food, which was initially quoted to take MAX. 40 minutes to get to me.
So at this point, it's already late, and I'm starving, and I could've cancelled my order and ordered from somewhere else a while ago, so I just kept my order. I call the restaurant to see if maybe they do delivery - they don't, and inform me that my food has BEEN ready and they're waiting for someone to show up to pick up my food. Why has no one from the restaurant alerted me beforehand? Why has no one alerted the courier or Skip the Dishes? So I ask them if I should be expecting to get my food cold since it's been sitting out and will arrive to me probably next year, and they tell me it's sitting under a warmer. Let me preface this by saying I WORK at a restaurant and this is just bad customer service at this point, especially keeping my food under a warmer which does little to nothing to keep my food actually fresh and warm. He also tells me that I could cancel my order if I want to. THANK YOU. WHAT A GREAT IDEA. DIDN'T THINK OF THAT ALREADY.
At this point neither the restaurant nor Skip the Dishes has offered me any sort of answer, compensation or even an extra damn samosa for waiting an hour and a half and being treated like a hot potato between the two of them.
Finally, my food arrives and low and behold, it's all cold and whatever is supposed to be warm and crunchy is soggy. I call Skip the Dishes again, since according to the restaurant it's their fault, and I am offered a pathetic $7 credit toward Skip the Dishes, after I had spent $45 on a subpar meal and hilariously unpleasant experience. I actually laughed out loud. I asked to speak to a StD supervisor, and after playing phone tag, we finally connected.
Fast forward to where she told me I would be refunded because of this horrible experience. I said thank you I appreciated that and went to go check my email for the confirmation email of my refund.
What do I find?
A $45 DOLLAR CREDIT TO SKIP THE DISHES. NOT A REFUND. A CREDIT.
As for the food, it was average, cold, and soggy. Shame that I can't even say anything positive about the food.
Safe to say I'll be calling tomorrow to get my money back so that I can NEVER EVER use it to order from Skip the Dishes or Bombay's...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS THE WORST! I didnt even get a chance to try their food to give a fair review. Tried to dine in and was placing an order for a main dish which stated, and i quote, "served with naan, rice, etc." which usually means it comes with a side, right? Wrong. I ordered the dish and noted a hidden cost. There was no signs, notes, or anything posted that says otherwise to let the customer know there are hidden costs for this main dish's side. I asked the waitress and she said the menu changed and i inquired why that change wasn't reflected off their current menu, which she shrugged. Okay, i was fine with that however when she left, this man comes barging through the side door and starts an interrogation. I inquired on the menu and why the customer was not informed on the menu change prior to ordering. He made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and twisted his words to make me feel as if hes doing me a favour by charging me more. This escalated to me pointing out the logical flaws in his argument, which made me lose my appetite for this resturaunt and any similar type of food of this kind. Buyer beware. Also note extremely slow service. 45 minuites before you see a glass of water. Good luck if you try eating...
Read moreI went for lunch and ordered the Karahi Chicken and the Samosa Chaat. I was surprised to find the Chaat filled with raw white onions. It was difficult for my 5yr old to eat it as raw white onion is quite overpowering. This is the first time I have seen that in a dish like that. My son loves samosa chaat but this dish was not enjoyable for him. The waitress chose to let me know which was the garlic and which was the plain naan, I think because they both looked the same - with burnt charred bits all over it. The garlic naan tasted a bit of burnt garlic. I was okay with the flavour but my son stuck with the plain naan. The Karahi chicken was tasty and a fair size but I found the gravy pretty boring. Karahi is usually a very flavourful dish and this was okay. All in all, the food did not taste of carefully prepared Indian food, but more like fast food. Overall it was okay, the service was pleasant, and, for a small restaurant, the atmosphere was quiet during a...
