Ten Ren‘s Tea — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

We normally eat at the Langham Sq location. That location is great. This location is not great. Here are reasons:

The food has no seasoning. If you like bland food, this is the place to go. If you like seasoned food, I suggest you drive a bit further and try a different Ten Ren. We had the two meals we almost always have. The Pu Erh Braised Beef Brisket with green noodles, as well as the Taiwanese Sausage rice thing. Neither one had any kind of salt whatsoever. It was almost a shock to us because it's something we've ordered a dozen times and know exactly how it should taste. At this location, unless you've had covid and lost your sense of smell/taste, do not eat here or bring some salt.

This is a very busy location because of the highschool nearby. There are tons of teens and they're hanging around the entrance of the restaurant. Teens aren't very self aware so they'll just stand anywhere they think is convenient, take selfies and doomscroll on their phones while blocking the only path to get in or out of the restaurant.

The tea quality at Ten Ren's is always exceptional; you can really taste the difference that premium tea leaves make. Each sip is a delight, with rich, nuanced flavours that stand out. On my latest visit, I was there for a quick grab-and-go, and appreciated the quick and friendly service. The staff were attentive and ensured our orders were prepared promptly, which made my visit even more enjoyable. The convenience of their grab-and-go option doesn’t compromise the quality, making it a top choice for busy days.

I’ve had consistently great experiences at Ten Ren's, whether I'm there for a relaxed hangout or just popping in for a quick drink. What an absolutely horrible place. I would give this place negative 5 stars if I could. This place has poor food, poor service, outrageously high prices and will lie about the price of the dishes, up charging you after you’ve already eaten. Do not give this place any money under any circumstances, it’s not worth a single penny.

The food is average or below average quality. Yet the prices are very high, outrageous for the quality and quantity of what you’re getting. And the service is very poor, even if you try to get a server’s attention, you’ll be stuck waiting. And lastly, I got printed a receipt before later having the receipt taken from me right before I’m about to pay, then I get handed a new price that’s completely off the menu after being told the previous price was a “mistake.” Like, what? Then update your menu! I’m getting up charged and forced to pay prices that I’ve never seen before until I had to ask for the bill from a server that acted like they didn’t want to serve me.
