🚫 Extremely Disappointing – Damaging to the St. Louis Brand We visited the St. Louis Bar & Grill in Richmond Hill as a group of 7, including 4 young children and left extremely disappointed by the service, handling of mistakes, and overall lack of accountability. We made a point to order all four kids' meals first, three cheeseburgers and one chicken fingers to ensure they were prioritized. Over 45 minutes later, only two meals had arrived. We had to chase down the server to ask where the other two meals were. The chicken fingers showed up soon after, but a different waitress informed us that we had apparently ordered an “Angus” burger, which was not true. The only time “Angus” was even mentioned was in the actual kids' menu description print out. Instead of resolving the issue by offering the already-made burger (which would’ve shown basic customer care and helped our child who had now waited nearly an hour), the server went back to the kitchen to make a new one, causing further delays. To make matters worse, the chicken fingers came with the wrong sauce, and when we flagged another server to ask for sauce, we were not informed that extra condiments would be charged. This was only discovered when reviewing the bill. It’s not about the money, it’s about the complete lack of communication, care, and service. Our original server was absent for long stretches, and when we finally voiced our concerns about the 50-minute delay for the kids’ food, he denied it happened. We requested to speak with a manager made us wait several minutes and came back saying "not here." We asked for the franchise owner, also "not here" and stated nothing could be done because the food was eaten. He refused to disclose the Franchise owner’s name. After repeat back and forth, it finally came out that he spoke to the manager and offered a 10% discount. We refused the discount, not because it wasn’t enough, but because it should have been offered from the beginning as a gesture of basic accountability. This entire situation could have been resolved with the original Angus burger and an apology. Instead, we received denial, avoidance, and passive service. To make things worse, this location is not AODA compliant and does not meet accessibility standards, despite what the franchisor claims on the St. Louis website. There are no apparent accommodations for those with mobility issues, which makes it an even less welcoming environment for families or individuals with accessibility needs. This location reflects very poorly on the St. Louis brand. From the dim, uninviting interior to the undertrained staff and lack of managerial presence, it undermines everything the brand claims to stand for family-friendly service, community atmosphere, and quality hospitality. If the corporate franchisor cares at all about brand integrity, they should review this location immediately for service standards, training, and accessibility compliance. As a first-time visitor to St. Louis, this experience destroyed our confidence in the brand. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that actually value their guests. We will not be returning and recommend...
Read moreSo this was my first time here and at any StLouis location. Food? Good. Loved the wings and the charbroil taste to them. Quesadilla very good as well. Nachos are meh, we liked the queso but we kinda chuckled how they looked like a late night microwaved nacho plate from home. Curd and coins were good but the dipping sauce just tasted like dry seasoning mixed with buttermilk. Also thought it was bizarre that my partner couldn’t have the half price wings unless we both ordered a drink. Food came out quick and was hot. I know it’s prepackaged but damn the garlic dill sauce is good! Service? Non existent. Says please wait to be seated and server (blonde) walked by us without acknowledging more than once, then told us to seat our selves. Brought us menus then nothing for a decent stretch and our menus were closed and to the side making it obvious we were ready. She was busy checking her phone at her station and had a pile of dirty dishes just stacked on the bar beside and in front of the customer sitting. We started googling other restaurants in the area cause we were going to leave since it was so slow. We finally ordered, got our food and never got checked on once. No offer of refills, no how’s everything… you know the basics. The place wasn’t empty, but I am from the industry so that part of my brain doesn’t shut off. She walked by us multiple times and never acknowledged. Otherwise she was just killing time and trying to avoid her tables. She seemed to be tending to 3 tables total, including us and a table that was already eating when we got here. We only got napkins because we asked the other server (curly brunette) for them. The curly brunette probably would’ve better served the entire floor alone. She also cleaned and cleared our servers table as she wasn’t doing it after guests paid and left. Perhaps our server was new, if so, she’s not ready for the floor and needs to work on having more than one pace. If she’s not new, get rid of her she doesn’t have what it takes to work a floor. We stacked our dirty dishes to hopefully prompt awareness but after 10 minutes we asked for a take out box and the bill. Then when we were paying she literally said sorry if my service wasn’t the best. Felt like a guilt comment in case we weren’t going to tip. I will also assume there was no foh manager on shift, and if there was… yikes Atmosphere? Loved the nice big tv, bar set up and table lay out. But there was absolutely no lights only what came from the tvs. At least dim some lights!
Definitely not on our radar to dine in again next time we’re...
Read moreWent last night to have a quick dinner and maybe catch the last bit of the leafs game. My husband was greeted by a hostess and was told there’s gonna be cover if were coming to watch ufc mind you the lineup was subpar and we really just wanted some food. He explained that we just wanna grab a quick meal and get out. Hostess said sure manager should be okay with it. We order drinks and as we were about to order our meal we were approached by the manager stating that if we wanted to stay past the leafs game we’d have to pay cover - mind you at this point it was 15 minutes till the end of the game. We answered and said that we just want a quick meal and to get out otherwise why did you even sit us? She repeated and we simply said if you can get our meal out in 15 minutes we’ll be happy to leave but it’s unlikely. Long story short she said if we order a minimum 25 dollars each she wouldn’t care if we stayed - which anyways we would’ve. The whole interaction left a bad taste in my mouth not gonna lie.
Long story short we got our appetizers fairly fast but she got our drink order wrong twice. We put in our food order and my husband was served and so was our friend. 45 minutes I sat waiting for my food - not to mention the game went into overtime as usual. Waitress didn’t come check on us once - no refills, no pickup of dishes. Eventually somehow I managed to wave her down and ask what was going on. She brought us mozzarella sticks - which we already got served earlier. I had advised her it wasn’t the order as I had ordered wings - mind you both my husband and our friend had already finished their meals. She went into the kitchen and came back to advise me it’s gonna be about 10-15 more minutes. I’m starving at this point and not super please at the situation. I declined and asked for the bill we paid and left. Not an apology or anything. We pretty much left as the leafs game ended anyways (note the initial issue).
Look, I get it. You’re short staffed, I get it’s a busy night. I get it! This issue would’ve never even come up if she even came to quickly check on us even once.
I was raised in the York region and this place has been there for as long as I remember. It’s a sports bar with pretty decent food and strong community ties. However, I don’t think I’ll be back. I don’t think I’ve ever walked out of a restaurant hungry and as aggravated as I was.
Disappointing...
