Szechuan Express — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

Wow, just wow. That was the most amazing lunch I have ever eaten in my entire life. This lunch was the most amazing, delectable meal my digestive system has had the honor of digesting. The second the crisp, tasty noodle came in contact with my tongue, I felt a rush of endorphins and consuming this food felt like a similar high to smoking cannabis.

I cannot speak highly enough of the amazing staff at this restaurant. The moment I was in a 3 meter vicinity of the food court at this mall, they immediately got on their knees and started bowing down to me. When I walked up to the Popeyes adjacent to the Szechuan Express, they started singing ancient Chinese sacred texts in the most beautiful tone I have ever heard. I was automatically drawn to their restaurant, and they offered me a sample of every food they had in stock. They packaged my food and accidentally gave me 4x the portion I ordered.

Every single day after this meal, I have longed for nothing more than this Szechuan Express. Unfortunately, I live a 10 minute drive and cannot always make the drive.

This used to be my go-to, but not sure what is going on lately. My dish was half burnt and I was forced to take a substitution without even being asked.

I ordered a dish today and they processed my payment as usual. After processing my payment, they started making my noodles. I saw them pick out 25% of my noodles because they were burnt. That’s fine. Appreciate them trying to pick them out, but at least put more noodles back in. But nope. I proceed to find more burnt noodles as I was eating. Second, I told them I wanted the beef the noodles usually come with, and they told me it was sold out.

You cannot substitute the main item in the dish without telling the customer. At least ask or flag it when I placed my initial order.

Just be careful ordering here. You might not always get what you think...

Today at the Hillcrest Mall food court, we decided to have lunch at Szechuan Express. Initially, we planned to choose Combo 3, but we wanted to try a sample of one of the spicy meat options to check how spicy it was. We specifically asked for a sample of just that one item, not all the meats. However, the staff member told us that they don’t offer samples at all, which we found very disappointing and a sign of poor customer service.

Despite this, we went ahead and ordered the food to try it for future reference. Unfortunately, towards the end of our meal, we noticed a small hair on one of the onions, which was extremely unpleasant and disappointing.

Overall, I would give this restaurant a 1-star rating due to its lack of customer care and low food quality. I will not be ordering food...
