Thai Express — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

I had a very disappointing experience with one of the staff members who assisted me with my food earlier today, between 7:00 to 7:20 PM. It was a woman—possibly Chinese—wearing glasses. She was extremely rude and unaccommodating.

I was simply asking if I could have holy basil with egg, but she cut me off and said, “Only chicken is available. Don’t bother ordering beef because we’re about to close.” She also added, “We’re only accommodating take-out now.” I was surprised because it was only 7:00 PM and there were still plenty of customers placing orders

I then requested for the egg to be well done, and she snapped at me saying, “Why would you even ask for it well done? Just order what’s in the picture.” I explained that I have an allergy to raw eggs, and she coldly replied, “Then don’t order egg.”

To make things worse, I paid the same full amount for my order, but no egg was served at all.

I was honestly shocked and taken aback by her tone and attitude. It was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, especially considering I was just trying to avoid an allergic reaction.

What made it worse was that after I finished eating, I asked the cook directly—and he kindly said he could’ve done the egg well done with no problem, since it’s actually a simple request.

I left feeling frustrated and disappointed. It’s upsetting to be treated that way over something so minor and avoidable.

Everything was simply horrible. The staff was rude, only the food was nice and the chef was nice. My mom and I decided to eat Thai express to start off our hangout. started off by ordering the Wednesday special, which is the green curry for 14.88$ combo. My mom wanted that, and so she ordered that and I ordered the 6.25$ Mango Salad Combo. The lady was very confusing to start off with. She was an elderly woman and did NOT understand English. As we said, we ordered two combos and she charged us for both but only gave me my combo and not mom’s. I then went to ask, she started being extremely rude. The boss then stood up and my mom helped explain as they spoke mandarin. The lady that serviced us then said “I’ll gladly refund it for them. Whatever” is mandarin. I clearly was pissed off and the boss’ wife went to deal with it offering us drinks and food on the house as if we were scamming her. On top of that, the lady charged me 7.50$ for the Mango Salad Combo. The fountain machine was broken so she had to charge me for that. As well as, she never let my mom know that the machine couldn’t take two combos. But she never informed us, nor told us. We will not be coming back here. Everything was a bad experience. Good place. We went for the Pad Thai and the Spring Roll. Pad Thai was really good. Off late, at other Thai Express shops, the Pad Thai was having more veggies and fewer noodles, but not this one - which I loved. Also, the tofu was quite well cooked. Loved the dish overall. The spring roll was good. Even though, for some weird reason, they gave a single big loaf without cutting it in the middle. Having said that, the taste was great - very fresh veggies and fluffy rice. The combination with peanut sauce was really good. The lady and the gentleman working there were good. Not really friendly but good at their job, so it was fine.
