used to come here with my wife when it first opened. I was 37 she was 34, we came here regularly maybe around 3 times a week or 4. She loved the Shrimp Wondon and would purposely leave some out to take the leftovers for home, the workers in which would service us plenty and always served with a smile. This restaurant was kind of like a home away from home, our little safe place from our apartment. We would regularly converse with the workers and they made our day a little bit more better. My wife was infertile so we never had any kids but we always found joy in the littlest things like the fried egg. I liked my fried eggs a little bit overcooked and the first few times i requested it they did it, but the other times i didnt have to request because they had already done it. Amazing job. We had to stop coming here a year ago because of some health problems that my wife had, we were swampt with doctors appointments and medications and treatments. It turns out that my wife had pancreatic cancer that we didnt know about and she was terrified for her life. I started ordering take out from this restaurant and it never disappointed. I took a few breaks from my workplace to keep my wife company and to help treat her. We had many nights with Shrimp Wondons and a lot of movies. We rewatched titanic together, the notebook, even watched a few horror movies to pass the time going by. Me and my wife both knew that she didnt have that much time left, but the time we spent together was enough, we were contempt with what we had. We both were just grateful that she was surviving long enough. It got to a point where her condition was severe and was bedriddden in a hospital. She knew that she was going to pass but said it didnt scare her. She told me that we should've gone to the restaurant one last time before she was in critical condition, I knew she was a joker but I could tell that she was terrified to pass. I was in the hospital holding her hands and kissing her forehead one last time, I tried my hardest making her passing a peaceful one, though I didnt know how hard grief would hit me. For a while, i was in denial, I didnt know what to do with my life. I never ordered from this restaurant ever since, it would feel wrong, it would feel like I was committing a crime without her. A few months goes by and my work needs me to transfer cities. I decided to visit this restaurant one last time before I left Richmond and the familiarity struck me. The workers greeted me with a smile and I sat down, only ordering the Shrimp Wondon. I ate them quietly as the empty seat across from me was pristine. Im now 40 years old and my wife is still 34. Not a single day goes by without thinking about her. Im thanking this restaurant for the service they've provided the...
