⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Family Dinner at Hibiki Yakitori Bar!
We had such a wonderful time at Hibiki Japanese Yakitori Bar last Sunday! 🍜🍢 I had dined here before with my sister and loved it, so I decided to take my family this time. The ambiance was a perfect blend of cozy and lively 🍶🍻—great for a casual night out! It's part bar, part BBQ grill, and they even serve delicious ramen! The best of both worlds! 🌍
🍽️ Taste and Quality of Food: We ordered 4 ramen bowls 🍜 and an assorted BBQ skewer platter 🍢. The ramen was fresh, flavorful, and the broth had that rich, umami flavor you want on a cool evening! The skewers were grilled to perfection 🔥—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside! I still remember how amazing the ramen was from my last visit, and it did not disappoint this time either. 😋
🎶 Ambiance and Atmosphere: The vibe here is fantastic—relaxed but lively. Perfect for catching up with family or friends! The restaurant has a versatile feel; you can come for a drink 🍺, enjoy some yakitori 🍢, or relax over a bowl of ramen 🍲. The decor has a modern Japanese feel, and I loved how the restaurant feels spacious but cozy at the same time. 🏮
💁♀️ Service: The staff were so friendly and attentive 🥰. Even though I didn’t have a reservation, they quickly found us a table. They were very patient with our group, especially with two young kids in tow. The service was fast, and they always checked in to make sure everything was perfect. 🙌
🧼 Cleanliness and Hygiene: The restaurant was spotless!✨ The dining area was clean, and even the restrooms were well-maintained. The food presentation was beautiful too. 🎍
💸 Price and Value for Money: We used a $20 coupon for orders over $100, which made the meal even better value! 💵 I have to say, for the quality and portion sizes, the prices are quite reasonable. My family was initially surprised by the prices, but after tasting the food, it was clear we were getting great value for money. 👍
🍽️ Portion Sizes: The portions were generous, especially for the ramen bowls! 🍜 The skewers had a good variety and were filling enough to share. Perfect balance for a meal out with 4 adults and 2 kids. 👨👩👧👦
🚗 Accessibility and Convenience: Located in Central at Garden City, it's easy to find and parking was convenient. 🚙 There's plenty of parking available, and it's accessible by transit too if you're in the area. 🅿️
🍢 Unique Aspects or Specialties: Hibiki’s specialty is definitely their yakitori and ramen. 🍢🍜 Plus, they have a great selection of sake, which adds to the authentic experience. 🍶 Their yakitori grill and kushikatsu (fried skewers) give the restaurant a fun and unique dining experience! 🎉
⏳ Wait Times: We arrived around 5:25 PM, just before the dinner rush, and the place was already half-full. Despite not having a reservation, we were seated quickly and served within a reasonable time. ⏰
🌟 Overall Experience: I highly recommend Hibiki Japanese Yakitori Bar! The food, atmosphere, and service were all fantastic, making it an ideal spot for a family dinner or a night out with friends. I’ll definitely be returning soon—and bringing more friends...
Read moreOur families came here for a Mother’s Day weekend dinner. It’s located at a new complex, where the Walmart is located. This complex is very busy and has some great eats.
There is plenty of parking everywhere. It wasn’t too difficult for us to find parking at all. When we arrived we checked in with our reservations and we were brought to a spacious and comfortable seating area.
The staff here is wonderful. I’ve never seen kitchen guys smile in my life but they smile here. They are all very friendly and they always checked on our tea kettle and waters. The decor is very cozy. Loved the lighting and wood interior with the lights and plants. The bar area is definitely a head turner.
Now, the stars of the show. It wouldn’t be a Ramen bar without ramen. Dad got the Spicy Chicken Ramen. Great medium spiced broth, moist chicken, perfectly cooked noodles. He was feeling cold that night and that dish really warmed him up. Brother got the Miso butter Ramen. Had everything in it and was very flavourful with all the hearty textured ingredients. Mama in law and I had the Kokuton Shoyu Ramen. We loved the black oil garlic broth. Full of umami, definitely my favourite. Sister in law had the White Salton Ramen. It’s a pork ramen with a Japanese shio koji and salt from Vancouver island.
The kids plate is adorable! It features a Japanese cartoon character. The food was played very cute. It’s a huge plate and we added a children’s Chicken and corn ramen. My Niece and Nephew enjoyed it 😆.
We got a few other plates to share as well. The grilled squid is definitely worth it. It was so soft and flavourful. Takoyaki balls and gyozas are a must and staples for sure. The Karage had a yuzu honey mustard dip that was citrusy and refreshing. The Obanzai platter was plated beautifully. I would probably recommend ordering 1 platter for 2 people. It’s not a very big platter. However, the flavors and presentation make up for it.
There’s a promotional offer at the moment as well. If you spend $100, you will receive a $20 voucher to use on your next visit. The voucher does come with an expiration date on the back. Ours had a 4 month expiration. We would love to come back for happy hour. We heard they have great value during those times, twice a day 👍.
All in all, it was a great Mother’s Day dinner. Fantastic Ramen bar for families. Next time I would like to try their izakya and yakitori items. Also their whiskies and flights of specialty drinks.
To the front house staff that served us that night, thank you for an amazing experience. The city could learn a thing or two about true hospitality from you...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The staff were exceptionally friendly, proactive, and welcoming, making me feel right at home as soon as I walked in. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal.
I ordered the Black Kokuten Shoyu Ramen and the Bara Chirashi Set, which included Tori Paitan Ramen, Chirashi Don, a green salad with shoyu vinaigrette, a small potato salad in mustard sauce, and two small sides that resembled crumbled cooked tuna and mushrooms with bamboo shoots in chili oil.
The Black Kokuten Shoyu Ramen was a standout. It was smooth and creamy, yet not overly fatty, with a delicate and complex flavor profile that left a lasting impression. The Tori Paitan Ramen, while enjoyable, could use some improvement. It was good, but it didn't quite reach the same level of excellence as the Black Kokuten.
The Chirashi Don was freshly made, but the meat lacked flavor despite its fresh appearance. It seemed that some of the meat cuts were not of the best quality. However, all the side dishes were delightful and added a nice variety to the meal.
In terms of price, I visited during happy hour, which offered a 20% discount on the Black Kokuten Ramen, bringing it down to $13.52. The Bara Chirashi Set, not included in the happy hour discount, totaled $32. The Black Kokuten Ramen was much more flavorful and complex than the Paitan Ramen, and it also included a whole egg with more generous amounts of toppings, making it a better value for the price, especially considering the quality of the fish cuts in the Chirashi Don. I didn’t find a justifiable reason for the $32 price for that set as it didn’t meet my expectations.
A side note: I had to call for the server as my Bara Chirashi Set originally arrived with a Chirashi Don dish that was missing many toppings compared to the advertised picture in the menu. The server was very kind and offered to remake the dish, which was much appreciated.
Next time I visit, I’ll be trying their tonkotsu-based ramen, as it seems to be their specialty. I recommend Hibiki Ramen Yakitori Bar during happy hour if you’re looking for a great, affordable...
